A fellow dutch teacher made a great website illustrating a great portion of human
history using minifigs. He made his collection through years of kitbashing from
his own collection and he hasn't kept a list of what parts were used.
I'd love to make a set just like his but it's a giant task to find all
the parts. And in some cases rare parts/minifigs are used, so some smart replacements
will make the set more affordable for schools. My plan is to publish a list for
other schools so they know how to purchase the entire history in minifigs. All
public, open source etc, i do not want anything from this except the ability
to source a full set for my class. I will also send the list to the maker of
the website so he can help other schools source these minifigs.
So my big question is: who can help me figure out what parts are needed for which
minifigure. When is it smart to buy a complete minifig, when do i buy separate
components? Is there a way to share this newly gained knowledge? Would it be
possible to say 'i want Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Hawking' and just
have a one click to wish-list for all the parts?
Currently i think i've gotten the first 10 minifigs reconstructed in a big
wishlist. So about 90 to go...
Is anyone interested in this to help me figure this out?

Start by looking at all the Collectable Minifigs, I see a lot of them in there
with no mods. I see two 3rd party items, Adolf Hitlers gun and Richard Winters
helmet. Not sure if any of the torsos are custom prints.
