Hello!

I noticed that some sets like the Daily Bugle (76178-1) list the Doc Ock figure
with the arms included, but the one from the Monster Truck set (76174-1) didn't.

Could it be at least included as an alternate to the minifigure alone? It makes
more sense to me for the figure to be offered both with and without the mechanical
arms, but the listings including these are inconsistent.

Thanks for the consideration and any feedback about the situation.

What is included depends on how the minifigure is first built in the instructions.

Fascinating. Can you explain this rule a bit further? I reviewed the instructions
for 76105, which includes the arms with the figure, but has the same layout as
the instructions for 76174, with the figure and back piece on the first page,
and arms assembly on subsequent pages. On the Daily Bugle, there are images of
the figure both with and without the arms throughout the instructions, and the
assembly of the figure isn't even listed as a separate step. Just to double
check, I also looked at set 6873, which first showed the figure with the back
piece and no arms, just like both 76105 and 76174, but is listed with the arms
on the figure.

I'm struggling to understand why the arms aren't included with sh687
from 76174.

Thanks for your help!

In the instructions with the light blue instructions, he is shown holding items
in his hands before the additional arms are added to his back. Hand held items
signify the stop point.

I think of it as the 'Tah-dah!' moment when a minifig is done being built.
Some of the new instructions even emphasize it with background graphics now.

Anyway, LEGO instructions are inconsistent at best, so the Catalog admin frequently
have to make judgment calls on some minifig builds. It's not an exact science.

Our current catalog guidelines for minifigures make the condition of handheld
items being added to the minifigure in the instructions the finishing point of
the minifigure build. So, for Doc Ock from

Set No: 76174 Name: Spider-Man's Monster Truck vs. Mysterio
*
76174-1 (Inv) Spider-Man's Monster Truck vs. Mysterio
422 Parts, 4 Minifigures, 2021
Sets: Super Heroes: Spider-Man
the figure is considered complete on page 5 before the arms are built and added
on the subsequent pages.

Cheers,
Randy
