I just bought a bag of assorted lego from Value Village, and while sorting maga
out and into the trash I found this piece.

The quality feels like mega, but it says Lego on it. Also on the inside it says
pat pend(aka patent pending)
It’s also not quite the same red as regular Lego bricks.
If you know what this is let me know.

randyf, thanks for the catalog listing, but I looked at the top of it and the
logo on the studs is different.

That logo was used on LEGO bricks made in license by Samsonite.

That is definitely LEGO. It's just old; from the 1970's or earlier.

I own some LEGO from the 70’s and this feels nothing like it, also in the bag
of assorted parts there was some stuff from the 70’s but it was all heavily scratched,
and dirty.

The one on the right is a normal brick from the 70’s.

The blue brick is a regular brick from the bag of stuff, from the 70’s (and that’s
the condition of the rest from the era)
As you can see the logo is different.

Looks like it might be a cellulose acetate (CA) brick - this was the plastic
Lego used before switching to ABS. The logo is just an older logo.

Hi,

I have bricks from that era and the logo is completely wrong.
These letters are more square and blocky compared to the lettering of the time
period used on the regular bricks.

"Completely wrong" would be if it said something besides LEGO.

The 1960's and 70's were a time of inconsistent logo fonts on studs.
The red one you have is older than the white one you compared it to, but it's
definitely LEGO.

True, maybe that’s the case.

Thanks for the thought.

Gotta love it when someone asks for advice/confirmation and then all they do
is tell you that you and everyone else is wrong.

Yes Saitolegos, it is definitely the case. Use them for MILS, donate to charity
or throw them out

It's a different plastic. As others have already mentioned "its just
old" that's why its odd.

They are actually pretty common, in my experience. No real value unless its near
mint
