If I place an order today in a UK store I can expect to pay UK VAT on the value
of my order, it seems from the email I received today that after Jan 5th I will
also pay NZ GST as well as UK GST on that order, that does not seem to be right
according to my understanding of tax law and international treaties.
I have bought a kit aircraft from an American manufacturer, I do not pay US taxes
on that purchase, it is shipped tax free, I pay tax to NZ authorities before
its released by customs.

Why would you pay UK VAT? If you buy from a VAT registered seller, your tax rate
will apply to the ex-VAT price. If you buy from an unregistered seller, there
is no UK VAT but you will still pay your sales tax.
