| Just got an email off bricklink saying I need to pay just under $10 for tax stuff,
I'm a Brit and I haven't sold or bought for about 7 months and I've
not had one before. Sent message to support email but just wanted to know if
anyone else has had one similar

They have to clear accounts once per year for VAT accounting reasons. If you
are worried about the link in the email, use store fees and pay the bill from
there.

You can check the amount and payment link here:
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/mystore/fee.page
As yorbrick stated, BL needs to close the year and charge all the fees that were
not collected any month due to not being above the 10$ threshold for out of USA
sellers.

| We havent sold anything for well over a year now (payed all dues before closing
the shop), still got the e-mail message.
The strange thing about it is that when we were selling stuff we paid taxes to
our country directly so we paid all dues from our standpoint.
I have the feeling it might have something to do with us moving country AFTER
we closed the shop and paid our bills and disabled VAT option somewhere this
summer (we moved beginning 2023).
Something however feels wrong, or there is at least not enough explained on why
these bills need to be paid after being closed and not sold anything for more
then a year now.
Anyway, as suggested in their initial e-mail, I send them a e-mail to the provided
customerservice adress and ask them for an explaination. I suggest doing the
same.

You have feedback for order 20607046, and that was placed on 25 November 2022.
So that one is only just over a year ago. Did you have any others just after
that one that would have been missed in the Dec 4th/5th billing cycle?
The fees page should give you a breakdown.

I received an email saying I owed a small amount but I have not had a sale since
2016 and paid the fees the next month. This seems like a system error after they
were down for so long.

of stuff from 2012-2013. I emailed the customer service contact, but this is
wild.

Did you pay the fees you owed when sales tax collection first came in?

2 or 3 years ago?
But this e-mail is IMO about fees, not taxes.

BL collect taxes on selling fees in countries where BL is registred to collect
taxes from buyers.
(Needs to collect taxes from buyers → needs to remit them → needs to be registered
→ needs to collect taxes on what you sell yourself.)
So, EU (July 2021), UK (June 2021), AU (June 2023), NZ (Dec 2023), NO (Dec 2023).
BL had to register in Canada too, and so collect taxes on fees in Canada (Nov
2022).
For the USA, BL has always been registered there… but I think BL doesn’t collect
any tax on fees there.
(Collection from buyers started Oct 2020.)

IMO OP was talking about fees in "Just got an email off bricklink saying
I need to pay just under $10 for tax stuff,"
I could be wrong (unlike you).

Yes, but Yorbrick hinted that tax collection may help explain why the email was
sent now.
