| I placed an order from a Canada based store on Sept 27th (4 weeks ago) and still
have not received my items (I’m in the US - Virginia). Seller says it can take
up to six weeks, which doesn’t seem correct based on info provided by Canada
Post. When I asked the seller for tracking number, he said I didn’t purchase
tracking. I followed up asking for proof of shipping, but his response was to
check with Canada Post - this obviously isn’t helpful since there is no tracking
number.
Has anyone heard of Canada Post packages taking 6 weeks to be delivered? What
is a reasonable amount of time to wait before filing a NSS if the seller doesn’t
offer verification the items were shipped?

| Sounds like they possibly shipped it lettermail to the USA which isn’t allowed
but does sometimes go thru but can take quite a while or they sent it via untracked
parcel which has no tracking and can take a while also. 6 weeks is on the high
end but not unheard of. In short see how much you paid for shipping. Lettermail
they would have charged you around the $5ish mark compared to the untracked parcel
about the $10ish mark. If it was closer to the $15-$20 mark that would be the
price of standard tracked shipping to the usa with Canada post

| None of my orders to U.S. buyers have taken as long as six weeks.
Canada Post lists their standards for delivery. Not a guarantee, but for example,
small packet air to U.S. (untracked) is expected to arrive in 5-8 days. While
tracking is listed at 4-7 days. From my experience, I'd add about a week
to those times.
If your seller is telling you that 4-6 weeks is normal, that's way off.
What did you pay for shipping? If the seller mailed your purchase by lettermail,
without a customs declaration, they made a big mistake. It is possible the package
will be stopped at the border, and eventually sent back to the seller, which
would explain a lengthy delay.
I recommend that you continue in conversation with the seller. I'm assuming
(hoping) that you have both confirmed that the delivery address was complete
and accurate.
If any inquiries are to be made to Canada Post, that is the seller's responsibility
to do so.
Given the time that has elapsed, you should be discussing what the seller will
do if the package is lost. If the seller remains communicative and reasonable,
then you can agree to wait another week. If the seller doesn't communicate,
then you can go ahead with other action such as NSS or paypal refund.

back when i used small packet untracked it often took many weeks to arrive but
that was a year or 2 ago. has it changed recently?

| Not unheard of although rare, even if sent as an oversized letter. Keep in mind
it has to clear your Customs, and they can be slow.

Be patient. Tracking is prohibitively expensive for small orders from Canada.
If it is that important to you, next time pay an additional $10 for tracking
on a $20 order.
I had an order from BC take almost a month to arrive. This was around a week
ago.
