Looked at the rejected BL designer program sets, which they are now selling as
MOCs.

The prices are exorbitant. I cannot justify paying 600 euro for a set that would
cost 400 euro at Lego.

So don't buy them. The MOC shop is based on hand picked orders that do not
have economies of scale in the same way that mass processed sets do. Higher prices
are expected for hand picked orders.

I am not buying them, thats what I implied. Its a shame because I would if they
were more fairly priced.

And the reason you give is exactly why I think this wont be a success. No single
store will have all pieces in stock, so you will always have to buy from multiple
stores, increasing shipping cost. Have to buy the instructions separately.

What is fairly priced though, for individual hand picked orders? These are not
regular sets that are mass produced. Anyone that has built MOCs, especially other
people's MOCs, will know that they tend to cost significantly more than a
LEGO set with an equivalent part count.

Whether it is successful or not depends on what bricklink / LEGOthought the sales
will be. Presumably they don't think sales will be as high as BDP, or they'd
be producing them as sets instead of using BL sellers to fulfill the orders.

The MOC's are needlessly expensive because of the way the stores are selected/suggested.

Even if you don't like with the way Lego/BL has done the MOC Pop-Up Store,
you could still support the MOC creators by buying their instructions and then
purchase the parts as you see fit, from wherever you want.

-Correct me if I'm wrong but, Can't you only buy the instructions at
checkout with the rest of the parts order(s)? I though that was the deal here...
I was also under the impression that the instructions for these particular MOCs
were not going to be available anywhere else, at least not while they are actively
being sold in the MOC popup promotion.

Nope. There are ways and means. You don't have to do it that way.

The instructions can be sold anywhere at any time. Neither Lego or BrickLink
purchased the rights to the MOCs and the MOC content creator can do whatever
they want with them at any time. They can sell on alternative channels, give
them away for free, offer parts lists etc. etc. etc.

The instructions do not have to be sold only as part of the MOC Pop-Up store.

You are free to contact the MOC creators if you wish.

Baring that in mind, the MOC Pop Up store is just an experiment at this time
and Lego/BL will be getting lots of data and feedback about how it's working,
the problems with it and what people may want from it in the future. Let them
know your thoughts. They know that not everyone is happy, but it's just a
(small) experiment at this point, with no guarantee of a future. With more data,
more input and more sales it will likely return, but better. So, while you can
circum-navigate procedures, if you want to see more (but better) programmes in
the future, then perhaps give them feedback, or better still more money!!!

Good to know, thanks for explaining that.

Sure.

There is one set that I seriously wanted, but wasnt chosen for the MOC pilot
and the creator is in silence over multiple requests, from several people, so
provide instructions.

I love a few of the cabins/houses/huts but price is simply too high.

It might be worth asking again after the Pop-Up has finished. It's entirely
upto the creator though if they want to sell their instructions. They may also
hold them back for (or have entered) a BDP.

Personally (and this is just me), I wouldn't buy from anyone that just blanked
my questions/ghosted me. What if there are issues with the build?
