| Please add alternative item number 3061 to
I found the new mold in 76417 Gringotts and it looks the same as the old one.
I do have the old mold in Tan so will upload a photo of them side by side soon
to show.

I might have acted too soon on this one.
Looking at your images closer and overlaying them in Photoshop, it seems that
the newer dark orange part may be slightly smaller in all dimensions compared
to the older tan one. We saw this recently when checking some other hair pieces
that otherwise looked identical.
and
In that case, the newer mold was basically shrunk down in size.
I am beginning to think that the newer hair pieces that we are seeing may all
be being shrunk down in size for use on the mini dolls as well as minifigures.
Since the minifigures look bulkier, the hair pieces can be bulkier. But when
you put some of these hair pieces on mini dolls, they look overly big and awkward.
I am going to reverse the changes I did for this one right now until we know
more.
Could you please measure both the tan one and the dark orange one in all three
simple dimensions (lengh, width, and heighth) and post your measurements here?

Tan 38798 - 1.6 x 1.6 x 1.45
Dark Orange - 1.45 x 1.45 x 1.3
Excuse my measuring but this is the most accurate I can get.

We could just add the new piece. Merging them later won't be too disruptive.

I tried to add this but the new mold number has been re-added to the catalogue
entry, so I have re-uploaded the Dark Orange image to that entry.

The catalog admin team decided not to add a new version of this part to the catalog
after further discussion. Opinions were split due to the difference in size and
weight between the earlier version and the newer version, but it was decided
in the end that there was no obvious way to distinguish the two versions without
having to find the very small part numbers inside them or needing either digital
calipers or an accurate scale to measure them. Thus, the alternate item number
3061 was added to 38798.
If we get a significant number of complaints in the future regarding keeping
these two versions combined, we may revisit this.
