I can certainly help you in more ways than one!
First, I would be happy to walk you through the process. There is a more straightforward
method than what you are attempting.
Second, I happen to have this set in hand and can complete the inventory instead
if you don't want to pursue it.
Let me know what you prefer,

Hi, Jen! Thank you so much for responding! I’m a hot mess right now. I would
sincerely appreciate any of the help you’ve so kindly offered. I’ve tried going
through this process a couple different ways, but I haven’t had lunch with either.
Like I said, it is entirely possible this is purely human error.
Would it be easier for you to walk me through the process, or would you prefer
to take over the inventory? I’m thrilled to have your assistance, either way.
I’ll send you pizza and an edible arrangement for your trouble

By all means, let's walk you through it! I've got my set here as a back
up if we need it.
Follow the instructions I just wrote out to get the inventory to Pending status
and then I'll show you the next step.
Good luck,
~Jen

Here's the basics:
When you go to Add Inventory: -Set
Choose Manual Add: 75357 Number of entries: 434
On the next screen, when it asks you if you like to use the known data, say OK!
Now you are at the Add Inventory form. Take note of all the Red boxes and then
delete them and their Quantity. You are going to leave these for later. Choose
the correct variant of all the Blue boxes. Choose your Source: Sealed Set Contents
and hit Verify Items.
If you got no error messages, cick Submit and then, on the next page: Make changes
to this inventory while it is in Pending status.
It should take no more than 10 minutes to get your inventory to Pending status.
Once it's there, you can add all the new parts and combinations you skipped,
remove the minifig parts, add the extras, etc.
Hope this gets you started!

Hi again That is exactly what I’ve been doing, but I get a new error message
every time I submit it. Each time, it’s a different item that “isn’t in the catalog”.
It’s not even new items that are giving me trouble. I can send screenshots if
you want to take over. I’m really curious to know if the issue is technical or
if I’ve lost my marbles.

every time I submit it. Each time, it’s a different item that “isn’t in the catalog”.
It’s not even new items that are giving me trouble. I can send screenshots if
you want to take over. I’m really curious to know if the issue is technical or
if I’ve lost my marbles.

You are deleting all the info from the rows with Red Boxes? And adding no new
information whatsoever except for updating the Blue boxes?
~Jen
|
Yup Is there a way to start from scratch?
|
Hmmmm... let's have those screenshots. We can figure this out.
~Jen
|
It's basically rejecting every item.

Also, this fun message pops up every 30 minutes or so...

Lol, awesome. That's a new one to me! We don't stay on this page for
more then a few minutes, so I expect none of the regular submitters have bumped
into this error.

6253856, 6303438, 614301… the list goes on. The super fun part is that it keeps
deleting changes I’ve made. For example, I’ll have typed in my remarks “one extra”
or “missing two”, then I’ll delete it, and then it magically reappears 30 minutes
later. I feel like I’m in some sort of hell-loop! I’ve spent at least 10 hours
on this, and I don’t have the bandwidth to keep going at this rate. I’m not sure
if this is an IT issue or maybe I’m so incompetent that I need to reevaluate
all of my life choices, but can someone please help?
|

I see. What I really need you to do is go back to the start, accept the data,
delete all the numbers from the Red boxes and don't add anything else. The
My Notes field doesn't stay after this page and is completely useless.
Give it a try!

You deserve all the pizzas!!! I tried what you suggested and started over, but
it was still giving me error messages, so I restarted my computer, did exactly
what you said, and VOILA! Inventory added! What obstacles should I be prepared
for in the next part of this journey?

Okay!
Now you can Edit that pending inventory. Head to Add or Change, My Additions,
New Inventories.
Then, click Edit Inv next to the set number.

Next, use the forms at the bottom of the inventory to add the Minifigs and remove

Use the EXT data field to add your Extras. Enter the number in the field and
then click Submit Changes at the bottom of the list.
Then, we go hunting for the new and/or missing items.

What does the v3 to r3 do?
BTW, you are so helpful and are probably eligible for sainthood with what you

|
Jen,
What does the v3 to r3 do?
|
The 'v3' is the standard version that works in any browser window. It
shows you a compiled list of the differences between the 2 sets of data.
However, viewing the information side-by-side is more useful. So, there is another
version of the page for people who know the little trick (or read all the words
in our extensive Help pages) accessible via the URL and 'r3'. This version
only displays well when you have a wider window open to view it.
The Inventory Comparison Tool is still relatively new and a very valuable asset
for Catalog submitters like us!

BTW, you are so helpful and are probably eligible for sainthood with what you

|
You are very kind! I enjoy helping new submitters. I was an admin here for quite
a while and that was my favorite part of the job so I just kept on doing it.
