| Hello! I have been researching the lego castle 375 set and have a question.
Did this set ever come with the box sealed? Or was it an open box with the
contents sealed in baggies inside? There just aren't enough new copies that
I can refer to to find out. Im just trying to find out what the set was like
brand new off the shelf.
Any info is appreciated!
Thank you!

Hi,
Most of the sets of that era came with a lid that could be opened to reveal the
content. The content IMHO was not in sealed bags but rather in trays protected
by a transparent harder type of plastic or a foil type plastic.

Strange: the pics I can find show a grey plastic tray. I don’t remember that
on mine
Anyway, at the time, the boxes were not always tape-sealed: they were often wrapped.

I have a copy of 112 from 1976 that might be of some use. The flap has fallen
off due to age but the set contains bagged parts in a gray tray with a clear
plastic window covering the whole thing. Some of the parts are not bagged.
I also had a copy of 375. Came with a gray tray and a flap but not sure about
the clear window and the parts being bagged because I imported the box a few
years back from Germany.

This set was sold/produced in many years and its packaging changed. Also, it
was produced by Samsonite of Canada who had its own way of packaging. Samsonite
of Canada did not like using baggies...
This set (as most sets at that time like 733, 722,...) had a flap window that
could help its content being properly displayed. But there was a transparent
lid that was sealed.
Depending on the year of production, I assume none or some or all parts (except
large parts like 6x10 plates,...) were in sealed bags.
It is also possible the whole box was wrapped in cellophane.
Attached are photos of a Canadian sealed copy that is wrapped in cellophane (photos
1 and 2) and of a American opened copy whose content is kept new, i.e. in sealed
bags (Photos 3-7).

| Thank you so much, so very helpful. Your copy is awesome.
I kind of get the feeling that the EU 375 was not sealed in cellophane, the box
came open but the contents inside the box were sealed in little plastic baggies
as you say. So that is essentially as "new" as it ever was. Interesting.
Thanks so much

Actually no feeling is involved here. Based on huge number of photos I have seen
from sets 1978-84, I can tell that some copies were sealed in cellophane and
some were not.
The parts of earlier productions were loose in the box, but in the later productions,
nearly all parts (except few larger parts) were sealed in baggies. Lego started
to put parts in sealed plastic bags starting 1979 (I believe) but this did not
happen for all sets produced in 1979, i.e. the parts of some sets or some productions
of some sets were still loose in the sealed box.
| So that is essentially as "new" as it ever was. Interesting.
Thanks so much

For additional reference, this is a sealed European set (not mine! ).
