I was catching up with news from around the U.K. when I noticed an article on
a man who fell to his death climbing near Ben Nevis with his sons and friend.
As soon as I saw his picture I realised it was my dentist that had fallen, you
never know what’s around the corner to coin a phrase.

So is that where all the NHS dentists are - at the bottom of mountains?

Sorry to hear that, quite a shock I am sure.
Surprised that members here think it's something to joke about.

In all the years of backcountry trekking and climbing with my kids and occasionally
friends, I’ve come close to that fate a couple of times. Although something like
that is sad to hear, it seems he did go doing what he no doubt enjoyed a great
deal, trekking with his kids and friends. Looking back on my “close calls” my
only real regret were it to have taken place, is how it would’ve impacted my
kids witnessing such.
