Hey all! I have 2 LEGO Christmas promos, but for some reason they aren’t in the
bricklink database?? It’s set 40489 from 2021. How can I sell these? How can
I make a custom item listing. Thanks!
That set was cancelled so it can't be sold here unfortunately
Correct. We will remove it if it is listed as a custom entry.
I think is time some one challenge you and the other admins on this.
Here are 2 set of a unknown number of set that made it to people legally all
over the world.
Set 40489 "Mr. and Mrs. Claus' Living Room" where produce by LEGO
it was given out by LEGO as a promotion. Why aren't it in the catalog. Even
if it was cancel before it where in full production some set got out and it should
still be in there with a note.
Set 42113 "Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey" went in to production and where sold
by LEGO around the world before it was cancel by a couple of reason. Still it
to should have a entry again with a not that it was cancel.
Now let see if you and your friend can give us a really god and acceptable reason
why they aren't allowed in the catalog.
Now let see if you and your friend can give us a really god and acceptable reason
why they aren't allowed in the catalog.
1) LEGO doesn't want to advertise on products they decided not to - for various
and obvious reasons.
2) If they were in Catalog, people could try to sell them, at least list them
- because I don't think there is a feature in BrickLink current code that
allows to show something in Catalog (apart for deletion, but it's not the
case here) and BOTH not allow them to be listed.
In short and IMO, no they won't be in Catalog for at least the above reasons.

to be in the catalogue, like BAM or PAB pseudo sets:

Current BL code is of some age, but being a software developer (maintenance on
"old" systems) for long time, I would suggest this simple solution: change
the text "Marked for deletion" into "Catalogue item only",
or
something like that. The checkmark for "Marked for deletion" then
still exists with the same functionality, only the message to the user different.

"Legacy item" or "Legacy item, do not use for new items for sale"
would be preferable. Calling something a catalogue item suggests it should be
for sale, as that is what the catalogue is for. It is primarily a catalogue to
enable the sale of items on a marketplace, even if some people see it as a historical
record.

Brickset gives the reason for 40489 as "This set was not released." That
means that BrickLink cannot list it on BrickLink unless that changes. The only
way that would change is if TLG decided to release the set.
Therefore it is going to remain forever as an unreleased set. Unreleased sets
cannot be added to the BrickLink catalog.
The BrickLink admins have no time to deal with unruly members such as yourself,
and if you persist in challenging their authority, you may well find your BrickLink
account suspended, although few members have been considered a serious enough
problem to warrant such action. You do not want to become a suspended member,
with privileges limited or revoked.
Kindly stop being an unruly member and instead continue to enjoy being able to
buy and sell genuine LEGO products on this site.

Why should bricklink members not be allowed to question decisions made by management
or LEGO? So long as they are not consistently breaking the rules of the site,
such as repeatedly listing sets for sale that they have been warned not to list,
why would they be suspended from buying or selling?
Unless they make a rule that it is forbidden to disagree with or question a decision
made by management or LEGO, then why should someone be suspended from buying
and selling just because they question something on the forum? If someone breaks
forum rules they can be suspended from the forum without the need to ban their
buying and selling activity.

I think he can challenge all he wants. I doubt he'd get banned for that.

We should be able to dialog respectfully in this community.
... whoever wtote this needs a 30-day suspension to teach them to not talk to
other members in this fashion.
let them taste the sting of their own rhetoric.
abusive language:
calling the member names, making threats, ordering the member to stop doing something...
Coming from the user who posted a comparison of domestic abuse to a custom minifigure.

Good to know I wasn’t the only one who was thinking that…
i posted a comparison of the celebratory actions from the results of a domestic
abusers actions to emphasize the ridiculousness of a certain member celebrating
he finally aggreed to stop breaking the rules on BL.
Did you know that according to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence
that 1 in 7 women and 1 in 25 men have been injured in cases of domestic violence.
Your comparison was not appropriate and very likely read by victims of domestic
violence.
you are once again acting like comparing something to something else is condoning
it...
don't talk about Sharks, a shark-bite victim might read it.......
You went into grisly details of describing a very specific type of domestic abuse.
That is not the same as mentioning the word shark.
"grisly"
*facepalm..
but a shark bite victim might read it... oh wait... that doesn't fit the
narrative you are currently pushing against me...
I didn't word that correctly, and I don't want anyone else to read your
comment. Thank you for pointing out this error in my typing and notifying me
to
clarify my statement.
What I meant was your comment was cancelled for a good reason. Regardless what
you type or try to justify, you comment was cancelled because a forum admin as
it was deemed to not follow the rules of the forum.
This conversation is going no where, peace, and have a good day.

Correct. We will remove it if it is listed as a custom entry.
Then how come these items are allowed in the Catalog while never being released
officially by TLG?

3001special Brick 2 x 4 special (special bricks, test bricks and/or prototypes) Parts: Brick
Because there are a special few cases where the LEGO Group has asked us specifically
to not allow the item to have a presence on BrickLink. The Osprey is one, the
above-mentioned Christmas set is another one.
We also make our own decisions from time to time to protect the BrickLink marketplace
- examples of these are the train rims, rubber bands, transparent minifigures,
and lately counterfeit minifigures and counterfeit minifigure parts.
We take action on listings that have the potential of ruining our reputation,
and unfortunately sometimes we end up removing some of the good when we are clearing
out the bad. But we've put a lot of effort into not being too restrictive,
especially for items of historical value.

Stick it on ebay instead!
Agree on file eBay… you’ll likely get more and faster too.
As for getting a decision by BL reversed on the sets… simply put you can’t fight
city hall (government for my OUS friends). You can try all you want, but it usually
goes nowhere wether you are right or wrong.
