I was looking through the bricks and mini figures that need to be added to my
inventory and I came across this happy guy. The legs are stamped Lego, the body
is stamped with 053(could be U53), and the hat is marked 6(or 9). This is from
the days when you decorated your own mini figures with the stickers from the
set. He has to be from the 1970s but I can’t find any information on the set
that he came from. Has anybody seen him before?

Thank you! That also solves the mystery of who those air tanks belong to.
If you’re selling the parts/minifigs (and not trying to identify and complete
a set), look into the Price Guide: it may be easier, faster and/or more lucrative
to sell the air tanks separately (as they are needed for older Classic Space
sets, while stickered torsos…).
(Not saying it is. Just something worth checking )

Thank you for the advice. I’ve found that he has a friend that has the same sticker,
different hat( black cap). Goodness knows what I will find next besides the group
of Forest men that has appeared.

Lucky find!
Yes, it’s definitely an adventure. I’m just amazed at how long it takes to actually
wash them, soak them, dry them, and sort them. I’m definitely noticing the difference
between the older colors and new ones- lots of old school white bricks.
