I've been on Bricklink for a great long time, but I think this is my first
ever Forum post.
Over the years I've come across my fair share of misprints and the occasional
molding error, which I normally just hang on to for fun, but this one is something
I've never seen before.
Calling it "double struck" is of course a misnomer, but that's
how it appears. The brick is old, well gnawed on, and cellulose acetate from
the look & feel of it. I know that Samsonite era bricks had pretty slack QC,
often containing elements with rotated logos, but I've never seen anything
like this piece before. Has anyone else ever come across something with the
logos both horizontal and vertical on the same studs?

Thanks!

Samsonite used one mould with studs like this. It is one of the results of their
slack QC.

If my notes are correct, the mould started with a normal, Samsonite "open
O" logo on the studs. On the bricks I have, that logo was faint, so they
must have made some Samsonite-style repair leading to the crossed logo variation.
Later, the mould was revised with a modern LEGO logo.

The mould produced 24 bricks. They all have this crossed logo.

I think that I am still looking for the mould numbers 11 and/or 19, but I would
have to check if that is still accurate 😉

That's great! Thanks for the info.
Flipping it over it looks like a #1, so alas I can't help round out your
set. LOL

Always a great find, I’ve a few but they aren’t common.

Worth a little premium to collectors but no great value, I always smile when
I find one.

Yes, they are fun for collectors.
It is worth the effort to list it for sale as a separate lot.
