How does the VAT work in Germany? I find it puzzling when you get an order from
Germany and the buyer needs to pay VAT. But then another order from Germany doesn't!
Is this scenario similar to the US where only certain states are charged SST
and some not? Or is there a cut off threshold when an order reaches a certain
amount.
Just trying to figure it out

Brett.

There are a trigger level 150 EUR below Brickling collect the VAT (you see it),
over they pay VAT when they get the packet (you dont see it).

(Oh, right, German buyers, not German sellers *facepalm* (and he cancels his
previous answer).)

Note though: if the buyer is themself VAT-registered in Germany, they have the
option to not have BL collect VAT (they’ll handle it themself).
So there can also be orders below €150 where there’s not VAT on BL.  And you
can see that by looking if the seller shows their VAT number in their BL terms.

If the buyer is a business you can see their VAT ID on top of the order details
too.
