| Hi,
I'm new here. I've been trying to "re-kit" an 8868 set from my
bins of loose parts to build it with my son. We've got maybe 98% of the parts
(awesome!) and I figured I'd buy the rest here. When I poked around a couple
weeks ago it seemed like this site had every part ever made, but now that I'm
digging in and really looking for some stuff I'm having a hard time.
I'm wondering if it's me using the site wrong or if indeed the parts
aren't available? Or maybe I need to post a wanted list and see if shops
respond?
Anyway, any help will be appreciated. I'm worried that after all this, I
may fail at securing the remaining few parts.
For example, I'm looking for the the following and can't find them:
- 1x red seat
- 4x white gas tank end "caps"
- 4x light bulb lenses
- Hoses
- Indexed axle "collar"
I'll try attaching a photo below.
To be clear, I'm not asking here if anyone has these items for sale, but
asking if they ARE available on the site and I'm simply not finding them.
Or any other tips you may have.

| Just after I posted that I tried again to find the set. I succeeded and now I
see the list of parts for the set - this is great!
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=8868-1#T=I
So... I'm still interested in any tips you may have, but it looks like shopping
from the set page is the way to go.

| if you add all of the items you want to your wanted list by clicking the heart
icon next to them on the left side you can then go to your wanted list and use
buy all (easy buy is easier but wont always get you the best price) and then
see which shops have the most parts you need

That's a possible strategy, but not the best. Take some time to familiarize
yourself with this website. It is a lot to take in. There are extensive help
pages (bottom of the page) and it may help if you browse through the forum and/or
search for similar questions there.
Your first step was to find a single part.
Your second step was to find a set inventory containing many parts.
If there's only some parts of this set you need and you find a single shop
that has them all, feel free to buy them directly from that page.
Normally, your next step is to collect the parts you want to buy into a wanted
list. You can even make more than one wanted list and specify things like
used/new, the maximum price you are willing to pay and the quantity you need.
After you have made your wanted lists, you can go shopping effectively. It is
recommended to use the [Buy all] feature.
There are still some optional steps after this to manage all your purchases.
When time comes, you'll find out.

I just wanted to say welcome! Love the old sets and it’s great that you’re getting
to enjoy Lego with your son. Happy Building!
