Hi,

I would like to have the possibility to make a shipment option available or not
depending on the chosen payment option.

I'm a private seller and I like to give my buyers the option to have orders
shipped without tracing and insurance. These options should only be available
when a buyer pays with an option which doesn't require tracing, for example
a banktransfer in my case.

Making the shipment options depending on the chosen payment option would solve
my problem.

Another option for me would be to add the extra cost of tracing when a payment
option which requires tracing is choosen. At this moment it's only possible
to add a percentage of the order when a specific payment option is chosen, but
tracing is a fixed amount.

Regards,

C

That just sounds super sketchy. Voted no. Buyers should have protection for any
and all orders placed and being presented with a cheap option only if they waive
all liability by paying in a way they can never get a refund if anything happens
is just sketchy

I already expected this would result in a discussion about whether or not a buyer
can have a freedom of choice when it comes to having a shipment traced/insured
or not. I think that buyers should have that possibility.

When I remove the Eur 5,- min order value from my store I will receive many small
orders. Even at this moment, for most of my small national orders (for me Dutch
and German orders) people ask for shipment without tracing and insurance at their
own risk, just like I do with most of my small orders in The Netherlands and
in Germany. The difference in cost of shipment can be up to EUR 3,30 (about $
3,50). In 20 years of buying on bricklink, I only had 1 order which I didn't
receive. So, for smaller orders I hardly see any risk.

BUT.. when even when the buyer agrees to a shipment without tracing and the order
is paid with paypal, paypal will refund the buyer his money when something goes
wrong. Therefor I'm forced to add tracing on every order paid with paypal.

I like to have that automated for me; if a buyer pays with paypal (or something
else that requires tracing) give the buyer only the options with tracing or insurance.
If a buyer pays with a bank transfer let him choose if he wants to have the order
traced and insured or not. This makes it for me possible to automate the making
of the invoice.

The trick is to have a little trust in buyers. In Canada it’s not feasible to
have tracking or insurance for most order so 95%+ of orders are sent completely
uninsured and untracked and the buyer has full protection from PayPal and it’s
a very rare thing for something to not arrive in which case getting more orders
easily outweighs the 1 in 1000 chance of it never showing up where you’ll have
to provide a refund. And I’m pretty sure in the legal sense a buyer can’t just
say they waive buyer protection as they probably are still backed by consumer
protection laws no matter what they say so just have a max $ cap for what you
comfortable sending without tracking or insurance. For me as long as it’s under
$75 I don’t require tracking and I’ve seen it range from $30 - $100ish before
tracking is required this way you don’t have to put yourself at any major risk
and the buyer gets cheaper shipping. Tracking can be useful and may help you
in some cases but everyone can benefit if it isn’t required in every case (depending
on country as some it is basically default)

  I'm a private seller

Erm.

You're in since 2003, have an organized and managed on line Shop, upload
stock every day or often, have had 1200 orders, etc.

If you and your IRS consider you (I hope) as "private" that's fine
(lucky you are), but you've many criteria that define you as a professional
according to EU laws.

As such, EU laws require you to be the one responsible of any loss during shipping;
insured or not, it's your problem.

If it's a problem, simply make buyers pay for insurance.

I've posted a week ago details about in Forum, if you wish I'll find
you the post.

I'd be more concerned about this from their terms:

Discount on IBAN and some paypal payments

EU-customers; if you use IBAN or a off-line paypal with the "to a friend option" you get a 5% discount on your order if the order is EUR 5,- or more. Please contact us before ordering; at this moment this store of us, doesn't have those options, but our other store (Caro's Place) has (we can move inventory from this store to our other store, so you can buy from that store and use those options).

And how is it possible to have two stores? I would love to do this, one for domestic
orders and one for international.

Separate addresses (one's in Germany), separate accounts belonging to separate
people, I assume.
