Currently parting out a copy of 7047-1. In it I found a little cardboard box
which is the same as pictured on 46931. That page has a note about which sets
it is contained in, but there is no relationship between that and the actual
string entry (x77ac50, which appears in the set inventory). Should there be a
relationship ?

At first I was expecting to see an alternate part number on x77ac50, but then
I discovered the sleeve entry.

TIA, Nita Rae

The inventory of 46931 is a relationship of sorts.

Ahh. Ok, that makes sense. I’m still trying to decide: should the box entry be
a counterpart, because anyone with a new set will see the box, while a used set
should have the string.

Admin don't believe any of the options in the current system are right.
The intention is just that someone who finds the box will be able to see what
is in it without opening it.

Well that helps, it really does. The issue here (I think) goes back to the same/similar
one that I posted a few days back about the extra part without the matching base
part (because it was tucked inside the minifig).

I think we wind up with what randyf alluded to about the sun going supernova,
that is it’s probably never going to happen. The inventory of a set should be
flat, with no regard to associations, assemblies, minifigs, etc. Once a full
and complete flat inventory exists, then views and associations (i.e. a hierarchical
rendering) can be applied to it.

In the case of this box/string, the string is actually in the inventory, but
the box is what I encountered when parting out. There is actually one person
with a wanted active against the box-sleeve. So I have to make a choice where
to list it, because the string is (more or less) a consumable, and those seem
to be quite popular.

The intention is just that someone who finds the box will be able to see what
is in it without opening it.
