| Hi All and thanks for assisting.
Recently had my first EU VAT prepaid order and was unable to find the IOSS spot
in Shipstation for PayPal (from later reading the forums, it is not available,
and I'll need to look into Pirateship). I decided to ship the order anyway,
customer received it, but needed to pay double VAT otherwise the package would
not be released.
The customer provided me with a receipt of the payment. Can this be used for
the original VAT payment to be reimbursed? If so, who would I reach out to?
BL admins? PayPal?
Or am I out of luck?
Thanks?

Well, as you didn’t collect the tax, BL did, it shouldn’t be up to you to refund.
It should either be BL or Customs.
Hmm, apparently, the proposed solution for double taxation was adopted in August
and BrickLink should now be able to refund the buyer and reclaim the VAT:
https://www.grantthornton.nl/en/insights-en/topics/vat/eu-solutions-to-ioss-problems-approved/
But as BL didn’t announce anything, I’m not sure anything is in place for that.
Maybe the buyer can have the second taxation refunded if they ask Customs?
(Note that I see a problem with the EU solution: VAT paid on delivery is on the
total amount and may include the VAT paid at supply (BL). So, even without counting
the brokering fee, it’s not the same amount of VAT. Great solution to increase
VAT revenue without increasing its rate….)
