Hi,

I noticed such a nuance with the details of the 3070b. The details of the 3070b
Trans-Clear were taken out by me from the set 42099 (it was a long time ago).
They are a little cloudy and glow under ultraviolet light. 35403 glows 30039
simple.
On BL there is only a Trans-Clear color. Has anyone come across such details?

Alexei

I’d say that one is transparent ABS (MABS) (new material) while the other is
polycarbonate (PC) (old material).
Different materials = different reactions to UV.

Thanks for the answer, I wonder if there is a difference in other small details
with the Trans-Clear color. I'll check what used parts released around 2010
look like.

BTW, there’s also different reactions to UVs in the supposedly same materials
and colours.  Look at Orange parts for instance.

I've noticed this in several colours. Orange is a great example, some parts
are very reactive while others show next to no reaction to UV. I have some comparison
photos on my Flickr, this one of dark orange is particularly upsetting https://flic.kr/p/2nufVBo

• trans clear
• trans light blue
• trans red
• orange
• flame yellowish orange
• dark orange
• bright reddish violet (magenta on Bricklink)
• green (especially older baseplates)
• blue (mostly « brittle blue » from ~2007 à 2909)
• medium blue
• new dark red
• reddish brown
• light grey (old grey)
• trans blue

It's worst than that. Its happen in solid ABS bricks to.
It's the granulate that LEGO by that some time have a lite "glow"
in it.
Did a test with Pearl Gold Cones (4589b) and ended up with that some Glow some
become Purple and some didn't react at all to my UV-light.
Sadly the picture i took are on a computer that become infected with a ransom
virus a few years ago.
