| Purchased an minifig for about 12SGD from this local seller (Tuahbui) about 2
years ago.
He sent the wrong item and I informed him about it. Initially he accept that
it is his fault. However, he decided to change his words after I told him to
collect it back or refund the return shipping fees.
Things escalated to PayPal. And PayPal decided to do a refund to me. Yet this
seller has been sending harassments mails for the past 2 years or so. Words which
are demeaning and highly offensive. Calling me names and label me as a scammer.
The details were sent to the admin here but nothing was done. The stop-list doesnt
work too.
How do I go about it?
Am about to file a defamation suit soon.

BL admins can only act on BL. If the messages are sent by e-mail, they can’t
do anything about them.
Go to the police. Though if it’s international, it won’t be easy to have something
done.

IIUC, the messages are private, so that wouldn’t be “defamation” (contains the
word “fame” which means public reputation (not the modern “famous”)) but “harassment”
(and maybe “threats”?).
Anyway, keep the messages and go to the police. You may also tell the seller
you’re doing it… though again, if it’s international, that wouldn’t deter them
much.

| Set up an email filter to delete the messages (or archive them if you want to
keep them as evidence).
If someone is sending nasty messages without any threat, is there really much
the police will do? As for involving lawyers and/or court proceedings, that seems
a waste of money especially if these are private messages.

If he is a local seller why not take the time out of your life to go pay him
a personal visit?
Face to face confrontations sometimes resolve things bullying via email cannot.
Whether you'll get a positive outcome is unknown. But if you can face him,
perhaps he will see reason and stop spamming you.
If he does not, perhaps the best thing is simply to ignore his responses. Once
a response chain degrades to nothing but the same thing being revived over and
over again, it's time to stop responding and ignore them. It takes a lot
to do so, but if you want him to stop, you must not respond back.

I disagree, this could end badly. Ignoring the bully and not even reading what
they send, in my opinion, is the solution. Why would someone go on 2 years of
this BS if they are not getting something in return? I had a bully here when
I first started selling, ignored and/or blocked them, they are now no longer
registered.

Are you responding to these messages? The best thing you can do is just ignore
them. Usually the person harassing you stops bothering you after a while if they
don't receive a response.

holidays. For unknown reason, he seems more active today.

Choose the option to receive contact messages to your email only.
Then, in your email client, set up some sort of filter to either block the unwelcome
messages or redirect them to a folder where you will not see them. Since messages
don't come directly from the sender's email address but from BrickLink,
you may need to filter on the content of the message itself; e.g., the sender's
username.

Stoplisting a member prevents them from sending you messages through the normal
contact feature. Unfortunately, they can still send send you messages using the
blue contact button on your store page.
However, receiving messages to your email only would at least prevent you from
seeing them on BrickLink. Most email clients provide advanced options for filtering
and blocking emails based on the sender and/or content of the email.

I also think this is quite unfortunate.
Having no way to discuss is always bad, but I think stop-listing (or another
named feature) should exist to not receive any communication from some member
through BrickLink.
Also - it could be reciprocal - if you'd "ban" someone this way,
you shouldn't be allowed to contact them.

Did you send the wrong item back to him?
If you didn't do that, he has a point.
It doesn't matter if it's at your expense, you stated he was local, so
it would have been a trivially simple matter to send the wrong item back to him.
Yet you continued this conversation for two years. Small actions can have big
rewards, but only if they're the right actions.

then you are reading them. Don't even open them, just delete the BL messages.

I really don't understand why you are continuing it. You've replied to
him again, so he'll reply to you.

I agree, just quit responding to him. Pretend he doesn't exist. Even if
he says something completely untrue that rubs you the wrong way, don't give
him a response. Don't fuel his fire and it will die out.

They have been advised by multiple people not to respond, but yet they continue
to do so. I am starting to believe they like the drama.

I read most of the responses and despite what many might advise, it will do no
good to report to the police or to sue them.
Reality is that the police do not have the time to do anything. They will be
totally disinterested in something like this. I volunteered for almost a year
at the front desk of one of the police region in El Paso. I have seen dozens
of people reporting things like this and the officers can do nothing and do not
want to do anything as it is such a minor complaint in the overall scheme of
things today. As to suing, you would have to prove not only that what was written
or said is not true and that there ARE damages. How would you prove that you
lost business because of that. To sue would also cost you a lot of money and
if you won a judgement which is highly unlikely, you have the problem of then
collecting the judgement.
Step away from the situation for a moment and think of how minor your complaints
are compared to the reports to police departments when their officers are out
protecting their city, state, or county. To be blunt, "Ok guys, we got a
complaint from a seller on the internet saying he has been harassed, lets call
SWAT and get that guy."
I do not mean to poke fun at your situation or marginalize it, but for things
like this there is nothing that can be done. In reality, it does not raise to
the level that courts or the police would do anything. Sometimes we have to
suck up bad things that happen to us.

it is here in EU and we have online reporting tools for that.

Proving it is another matter, especially if the person saying that they are being
harassed keeps sending messages to the person that they say is harassing them.
And that seems to be the case here.

Unless you are a 13 year old girl getting emails from a 40 year old man trying
to set up a meeting, the police do not take it seriously. "I am being harassed
on-line about some Lego." You really think the police here would be all
that concerned? America is really under staffed all over with police officers.
There is a finite number officers and there is a plethora of complaints. "Which
call should we go to and investigate, the one where the wife was being beaten
by her husband or the guy that is getting harassed by email over some child's
toys?"
Can you see how silly that is? If I was the police taking the call I would say
"Suck it up buttercup."

We don’t have the content of the messages or the whole story, both of which could
change our perception one way or the other. This kind of thing can escalate
to death threats or worse.
When it comes to that, the origin of the feud doesn’t matter (“his great-great-grandfather
looked at my great-great-grandfather the wrong way when they were in kindergarten!”
said Mr McField to explain his murdering Mr Hatcoy).
So, not knowing more, I don’t believe it should be advised to “forget it.” Those
platforms I was talking about have explanations and forms and ask for details:
if what happens to you doesn’t fit in, you don’t fill the form, or your complaint
is dropped. Again, not the same as wasting police time.

Read all the comments. In short, case is 'closed'. Bricklink admin got
involved and told the other party to stop contacting me.
Things would be easier if there is a block chat function.
And to some who have misread.. I do not reach out to him more than 90% of his
message. FYI, his message is no less than 100 over the 2 years. Sending nasty
emails to me especially on public holidays such as New year, Christmas and so
on. In any case, no reason for me to reply him unless his message is way overboard.
Harassment be it online or in person is a serious thing at least in Singapore.
