Sammi is still hanging in there. She will not get off my desk or out of my lap.
I am so happy that she is here. We got a chemo treatment for her, but there
is no way to get the pill down her throat. It is a pill they told us not to
touch with out unprotected gloves. We decided to discontinue that because it
totally stresses her out and drives her away from us. There is a steroid pill
that we can bury in her food that does help and also makes her hungry. She has
lost a lot of weight and it is heart breaking to see her so small and frail.
I have come to accept that she will not be with us much longer and that as soon
as she is suffering it will be time.
My wife and I go to see musicales and in two weeks is Cats, (12th time I will
have seen that.) They are season tickets and bought as part of a package. I
want to go, but do not know if I can take that, it is a beautiful musical.

Glad to see that Sammi is still with you, cherish every minute.

As for the chemo, it’s the same for humans, you shouldn’t touch it with bare
hands unless you are the patient.

Not a fan of musicals and haven’t seen cats, I hope you enjoy it as much as you
have before.

Go back to the vet and get them to reorder the chemo pill in a form which she
can swallow. Cats have a habit of always chewing up their food, so if some pill
is too large to swallow directly, it would need to get chewed up. Cats are very
specific as to what they will swallow without chewing it first.

Explain to them that the pill is stressing her out and driving her away from
you. Cats also have a very particular taste that they identify with food. Your
cat might not like the ingredients being in pill form, if her stomach cannot
digest them, she knows this instinctively, from what her tongue senses tell her
is in the food.

She might react better to chemo ingredients in a form that can be directly injected
into the blood stream. If she doesn't have to taste it, it will be a lot
less stressful for her.

If the vet doesn't have any chemo therapy that is less stressful, ask them
to research the issue, for your cat's sake.

There are always options, but finding a solution that suits your cat better takes
time, which she may or may not have much of left.

Spend your time with her as much as possible. Her family will always feed and
comfort her, and since she has chosen you and your family, she considers you
a part of her family now.

Spend whatever time remains with her, as it will be memories you will treasure
later.

Cats are odd creatures, and they are like people in some respects, they are very
fussy about what they like to eat.

Cheers ...

I want to thank those who responded by posts or messages. I am going to the vet
tomorrow and will ask about other options. That was a very good idea that I
had not thought of. I guess I am too close to the issue to really do logical
thinking. I usually guard against single issue thinking.
The messages really help.

Animals can give much more Love than some Humans.
Give her the LOVE she deserves, for the time she has to live. I hope she won't
suffer.
Lose an animal is really heartbreaking, be strong !
Sincerely,

Nicolas
