Is there a way to stop the emails you get when an order is placed in your store.

it does drive me mad with all the emails i get. As i go into our store every
day, if i could stop these notifications coming through it would help.

Depending on your email client, you could set up a filter to automatically mark
them as read and archive them so you do not need to see them but keep them in
case you need them later.
