| Hi! We've seen an increase in NPBs lately which holds up inventory for 12-19
days.
Thanks for reducing the time for filing NPB to 5 days. But can we also reduce
the time it takes to complete the NPB process and cancel the order from 7-14
days to 2 or 3 days?
Being that we no longer wait for mail delivery of checks or money orders, 7-8
days total is plenty of time for Buyers to submit payment.
Thanks!

| You could also adopt instant checkout and virtually eliminate NPBs completely.
Seems like an obvious choice to me!

Would address the OPs issue, but what about sellers in other parts of the world
who rely on bank-to-bank payments? Unlike PP - IBAN is free and it is a very
popular payment method within EU.
IBAN payments are often instant or almost instant as well, but banking systems
in some countries are still very backwards and can take a couple days to go through.
Invoice on WED, add a day for a buyer to initiate the payment on the evening
of THU. Say we are dealing with slow banks this time so the payment reaches seller's
acc on Tuesday as we also need to strike two non-workings days out. We are already
looking at 6 days - when the payment was submitted the next day after invoice.
If the buyer submits payment on the 5th day we are already looking at 10+ days
in total.

NPBs aren’t automatic and Sellers aren’t obligated to file the NPB right after
the 5 days
If you’re a seller offering IBAN (or other ‘slower’ offsite method), you know
how long it can take to make the payment. So you wait to be sure the buyer is
really NPB before filing.
And then, the NPB completes a bit faster than it does now.
If you file the NPB at the same time the buyer initiates the payment, the buyer
should still have time to answer to the NPB and therefore prolong the completion
delay. They can even prove to BL that they paid (even it hasn’t arrived on the
seller’s account yet). So the payment has time to arrive and you can remove
the NPB before it’s auto-completed.
Note that I think the 2-3 days suggested by OP are too short. The buyer should
still have a few days to answer and answering (which, AFAICT, rarely happens
when the buyer is really NPB) should still delay the NPB long enough for the
payment method to complete.
But shaving a day or two could sooth some sellers’ pains.

Yeah, I suppose you are right. I do not have an NPB problem (knock on wood) so
I do not know just how painful it gets. Rules look fine to me, but I guess I'd
be advocating for a quicker turnaround if I was in the OP's shoes.

Where can I find it is 5 days? I once read it before in this forum.
In the English and Dutch version at the Help center I read it still says 7 days.
In a recent NPB I started I couldn’t start it after 5 but still 7 days.

Life happens and sometimes a situation will pop up that is beyond the buyer's
control. Right now, it is set to 7 days (according to BL TOS). I think 5 days
is an appropriate time frame, with 5 days to respond. This should afford enough
time for those that use IBAN for payment to clear and a reasonable time frame
for a buyer to respond and pay for their order.
It may not be ideal for the seller (who has their inventory on hold) or the buyer
(who was in a hypothetical car crash and is in hospital) but it is a reasonable
time frame to work with for all parties.
Just my $0.02

Implement auto-checkout, problem will vanish.
For the others, I don't start an NPB before 1 to a couple of months.
Some buyers have had Life problems to immediately cope with, and (rare I must
admit) were happy of this cool delay and finalized their order gracefully and
kindly.

That is amazing of you to wait this long! You are the only store I have heard
of to do this.

Thank you, appreciated.
I'm kind in general, apart when I rant in forum
Which is often
Seriously, this helps, we have a shop with some decent inventory.
So I must admit it doesn't change anything if say $100 isn't for sale
because pending NPBs...
So somewhere, it's easy(ier) for me

| I would never submit an NPB as early as that. I give them all 2 weeks. Life happens.
Not everyone is in such a rush. Not everyone understands our strange systems.
Not everyone gets their messages from BrickLink.
But then, I've never worried that stock was being 'held up.' Do people
really feel that if stock doesn't sell within a week at a certain price then
it's never going to sell?
