Hi everyone,
I am adding capes to my inventory, but cannot identify two sorts of capes. They
are like the 522 (standard starched, 4cm), but the material is different.
First, a dark red and a black cape in somewhat shiny fabric, slightly stretchable
diagonally (as opposed to the traditional starched ones).
Second, a black cape in non stretchable material, but with a soft finish on one
side, like velt or velvet, the same material as the cape of large buildable figure
Kylo Ren.

What should be the catalog entry?

The red / black one could be from Aragorn

Minifig No: lor066 Name: Aragorn - Dark Red and Black Cape
*
lor066 (Inv) Aragorn - Dark Red and Black Cape
Minifigures: The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings: The Lord of the Rings
But be sure it is real if selling it here.

The felt one sounds like a fake. The Gondor soldiers sold on aliexpress come
with that type of cape.

The dark red one is all dark red, so it is not the one Aragorn wears. I have
2 black in that shiny fabric (but not spongy) and 1 in dark red. The felt-like
ones have the same material as the large figure Kylo Ren, but I agree, probably
fake Lego

If your talking about what I think you are they might be from the red imperial
soldiers. Their red/dark red capes always look very weird in person

There are 2 'standard' capes:

Part No: 522 Name: Minifigure Cape Cloth, Standard - Traditional Starched Fabric - 4.0cm Height
*
522 Minifigure Cape Cloth, Standard - Traditional Starched Fabric - 4.0cm Height
Parts: Minifigure, Body Wear
and

Part No: 522c Name: Minifigure Cape Cloth, Standard - Traditional Starched Fabric - 3.9cm Height
*
522c Minifigure Cape Cloth, Standard - Traditional Starched Fabric - 3.9cm Height
Parts: Minifigure, Body Wear

The 522c has slightly more sheen than 522 and is more frequently (but not always)
cut on the bias. This means the weave runs diagonally instead of vertically.

The way the holes are cut are the real give away for fake capes. Can you post
images?

Hi Jen,
That is helpful! Those that are a bit shiny are cut on the bias and are a bit
shorter. The holes are cut the same way as the ones that are genuine Lego for
sure
