Comments from Submitter:
Later releases of this set substitute the (presumably no longer manufactured) ball socket extender for an extra couple pieces of bone. The mould type for the sockets also seems to have changed.
LEGO.com instructions were updated to reflect these changes in June 2022:

The first set I ordered was the old version, so I ordered another one and now
I have both versions. Again I am surprised that a build is changed but the box
images and instructions front covers show old images, still showing two

After approval I changed the match-id's for these parts to 99 and added a
note that it's a redesigned set with at least two different instructions.

The new version I received has packing code 542S2. The instructions still show
PCC 6172458 for
