I am getting frustrated with the Catalog not being updated. I have a Death Star
UCS 10188 set. It had some minifigures missing which I am trying to replace.
In particular 2 Imperial Troopers with Black Helmets and Thick Black Circles
on the Silver Belt Buckle. I have purchased 3 Imperial Troopers so far and they
all have different Torso's. It's an Unlucky Dip as to what Torso they
have.

I have
1. Large Black Circle on the Silver Belt Buckle.
2. Thin Black Circle on a Heavy Painted Silver Metallic Belt Buckle.
3. No Black Circle at all.
Picture is attached.

Members are telling me that they are either Misprints or Play Wear. The Black
Circle isn't printed, it's the Background Colour of the Minifigure. The
Silver is printed. On the Thin Black Belt Buckle the Silver is Thickly painted
and a Metallic colour. So it's not a Misprint. Neither is it play wear because
it can't wear off.

I have tried to contact sellers before buying a Forth one, and they didn't
know. I have asked for a Photo of the Imperial Trooper, and only one has replied.
They had the Thin Black Circle version. In the means time most of the Imperial
Troopers for sale have been sold. There are only 2 left and only one seller replies
to emails.

I have spent over 6 months, and over $50 trying to replace these minifigures.
And I could spend another $30 in buying a forth one because they seem to be rare.

The three versions do exist and can be found around the net, and on Lego's
Boxes and Instruction manuals.

So why aren't they listed in the catalog to prevent Buyers getting frustrated
and Sellers having to refund items when it's not either of their faults.

Just as a side note, if you think that they don't exist then look at the
parts break down of the sw0208 Imperial Trooper. The Torso as the Thin Black
Circle.

Sorry for ranting.

Ian.

Maybe look outside Australia?

There are plenty of sellers with 5+ on stock, contact some that ship to Australia
and ask for photos/quote.

Good luck

Thanks. I have been looking outside of Australia but the postage from some countries
is rather expensive. Getting good photos is difficult too. They are often blurry,
or they photo them inside a plastic baggie.

Doesn't help.

I'd just like Brinklink to recognise that there are 3 versions.

Ian.

Can it be proved that the 3 versions are intentional rather than just heavier
printing?

I'm not sure the thick/thin ring is intentional - that just seems like standard
printing variation.

If you could provide the evidence from sealed set contents/set reviews etc that
the solid silver version was intentional and always came in a certain set(s)
then we would certainly consider it but like I say we would need solid proof.

Failing that the best we could do is add a note to the catalog entry mentioning
the variation.

Thanks,
Paul.

Hello Paul.

The photo I attached earlier shows that there are 3 alterative Torso's. I
have several photos from around the net showing these different Torsos.

The Torso with the Thick Black Circle has Flat Silver paint on it.
The Torso with the Thin Black Circle has a Textured Darker Thicker Silver paint
on it.
The Torso without the Black Circle has a Textured Darker Thicker Silver paint
on it.

Battle for Endor 8038 has the Imperial Trooper with no circle, but with the thicker
darker textured silver buckle, printed on the top edge of the box and in the
No. 2 Instruction manual at the back of the book. In the No. 1 manual it shows
the Imperial Trooper built with the Thick Black Circle.

So there are lots of inconsistencies with the Torso.

I have seen an Imperial Pilot with the same Torso with the Thin Black Circle
alternative.

The real issue is that the sellers use the stock photo for the imperial Trooper,
which has the Thick Black Circle, but they do not realise that there are 2 other
alternatives. An neither does the buyer till they get the Imperial Trooper sent
out. Also your stock photo of the parted out Torso is the Thin Black Circle one.
So the catalog has 2 images listed.

This is my problem. I have 3 different Troopers now when I needed 2 the same.
With the Thick Black Circle because that is what was with the 10188 set. I didn't
know to ask for photos till I had to buy 2 more of them.

There does need to be information that there are different Torsos.

I still have find and purchase another Imperial Trooper. And some how sell these
other 2 I don't need. It has been an expensive experience.

Thanks Ian.

Hi ian
Apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
I've attached an image of our sw0208.
From the image you sent through it does seem to be the thick circle variant.
You can judge yourself from the pic I suppose.
Hope this helps with your choice / quest.
Cheers
