It is a trans-red version of the part with design number 46413 and mold numbers
2-01. So the one I am looking at was made from the original molds for this part
created in 2002-3. Since the same mold was used for ABS and polycarbonate versions
of the part, I can be sure that this is the original design.
Looking closely, I can't see any real differences between the old one that
I have and your images. The one I have only has seven teeth on the hinge fingers,
also. This goes along with what I have found from some other parts: that the
seven-tooth design of the hinge fingers goes back a long time to shortly after
the introduction of the click hinge system. Funny that we only learned about
the difference a few years ago.

Interesting! The old part I found to compare is Trans-Black, has design number
46413, mold number 1-01, and a 2002 LEGO Group copyright. It was from a used
lot, so I don't know the set.
