It is an expensive set, and people will charge high amounts for the sought after
parts to recoup some of the value when parting out. Especially if people are
willing to pay the high prices to get the parts before others do. If you want
to pay lower prices, wait in line until the parts drop in value.

It is an expensive set, and people will charge high amounts for the sought after
parts to recoup some of the value when parting out. Especially if people are
willing to pay the high prices to get the parts before others do. If you want
to pay lower prices, wait in line until the parts drop in value.

Mine sold within minutes of listing. I am surprised no one has mentioned all
the stinker lots that come in sets nowadays. This is a rare, new item as people
have mentioned. Will other items in the set sell as fast? Will there be a run
on plates and bricks from the set that are available elsewhere? Does this set
have anything else exclusive and in high demand to make it worth parting out
to satisfy the needs of people who want only the purple air tanks and helmet
and don't want to spend $130 on other items in the set they don't need
or can't use. There is a lot more thought from a sellers point of view then
just trying to get the most for what we have. Supply, demand, availability etc
all play a factor in pricing.

I understand it fine, I just think it's absurd that buyers are playing along.
There is no scarcity here. This isn't a 40 year old set, or a SDCC exclusive,
or a rare prototype part. It's a production part in a current set. And yet
they continue to sell.
It's like going to a car dealership duirng thye peak of the pandemic, seeing
that dealers are charging $25k over sticker price, and thinking "yeah, this
is OK, I think I'll buy a new car now". Madness!

If there were 100 wanting to buy the car but only 10 cars available then the
price if that car would change. Those that offer to pay more would get the car.
Same with these parts. Only a few for sale globally in a just realeased set that
costs over $100 and everyone wants 1 or 2 parts from it so they are going to
be worth a lot until the market catches up with it

I don't think it matters that much whether it's in active production
or not.
This was a $25 figure when it was in production and now it's a $40 figure.

Madness? Unfortunately, The LEGO Group is the only entity who could affect the
sale price of dark purple minifig airtanks and helmets.
If they chose to do so, they could flood the market with dark purple colors and
watch prices drop. But while it remains a rare item in a set, then prices will
stay high, just look at the price guide for this entry:

Used red shrouds are even more expensive than new red shrouds! Go figure! These
helmets and airtanks are just a drop in the bucket of pricing madness right now!

helmet has yet to appear in lbg. The color variations in the airtanks are enough
that some can pass as lbg. The figure in the Pic has a stickered torso.

I only have three to four years to complete my build.
I had most of my parts in storage for years, until I sold one set of spaceys
like I posted so I could buy new parts for it.

Nice display!
This is my display of Classic space logo minifigs. They all have assigned roles
except dark pink, which I am still mulling over. Probably something medical,
tho.

Maybe make him the metal detecting hobbyist (ex commander during the space police
battles but wasnt seen in old sets since he was had to do the desk work) since
he comes with a metal detector in his set

Well there are plenty of crewmen per color not just one, but I like the idea
of being inside and usually unseen. I had also considered them as the result
of an accidental mix of red and white suits in the laundry.

(forgive the excessive I was trying to setup a SQL database and a spider ran
across my desk crazy fast and i don't l like spiders)

The new wheelchair still isn't available on PAB despite being in one of the
newish Avatar sets as well as new custom car garage

New parts now take months to be available for sale. And when they do, they'll
be out of stock as fast as they come in stock.

Looks like a couple have sold close to that price — but even if you bought the
maximum Lego S@H will let you (2 sets), and then resold the helmets at $1 each,
you'd only be helping less than half a percent of the 437 people who have
this helmet on their wanted list. And you'd have spent $260 on the sets.
Eventually supply WILL catch up with demand, it's just a matter of how patient
you are as a buyer.
