Can we get clarification on any "unknown" colors for parts? Any part listed
in an "unknown" color should either be changed to confirm it is a known color
or that color should be removed for that particular part. If a part was released
in a particular color, that color should be added to the known colors for that
part, even if there are no parts listed in that color so sellers can list the
part in those colors if they should happen to have them without doubting or second
guessing if they have correctly identified the color for that part. One specific
example is Bionicle parts in Flat Silver and Pearl Light Gray. My understanding
is Flat Silver may have only been used during the final year Bionicle was released
but also that some sets may have used Flat Silver in some countries while using
Pearl Light Gray in other countries for the same part in the same set. I don't
know wether this is actually true or not but sellers could definitely use some
clarification as whether the actual dye was different or not, there are definitely
color variations among these parts. Thank you.

Yes:

Known colors simply means that the part in that color is currently listed in
a set or gear inventory here on BrickLink.

Any part listed in an "unknown" color should either be changed to confirm it is a known color or that color should be removed for that particular part.

Not so, as they are many legitimate part and color combinations that don't
appear in set inventories.

Ah, not following your logic here. Sellers can use the known colors as a guide
and list unknown colors if they are confident of their stock. How exactly would
BrickLink know every color combination ever made beyond what we have in the catalog?

There is much confusion over Flat Silver and Pearl Light Gray. I am sure an admin
can speak more comprehensively, but many inventories have been recently modified
to more closely follow the color history where BrickLink has been inaccurate
for many, many years.

Hope that helps,
