| So...
I was thinking about doing some sort of collaboration with an MOC builder to
give away a small set. If you purchase a certain amount, you get entered to win
From a buyer point of view... questions, comments or concerns??

IIRC, it's illegal in most States to require a purchase to enter a contest
for a giveaway.

I think I have. otherwise its a lottery since you have to pay money in order
to win as opposed to a giveaway in which you don't have to paying order to
enter

IIRC, it's illegal in most States to require a purchase to enter a contest
for a giveaway.

I looked it up and there's so many easy ways around that. But basically...
not a sweepstakes, gotta be a contest based on some sort of skill. Also can't
be a "lottery" because only states can have lotteries. So, I would have to have
a contest, to which I would require a minimum purchase in the store and you have
to answer the question I have posted on my page or something... BUT it is food
for thought!

First, Suggestion topic is for suggestions to BrickLink (development, rules,
etc.)
As a private yourself and good person, you legally and very probably don't
risk anything giving a freebie to one dude chosen in between a dozen persons...
More generally, legal rules are hyper complicated and much much depends the Country
AND era.
I learnt 1 year ago we (1001bricks) could make this kind of lottery as a private
company depending some rules. But years before it was strictly forbidden!!
But but... I would be you, and just for the people participating, I'd find
a system to PRE (before) -determine the winner, that's FAR better.
Otherwise you can decide Nubs_Select didn't win, and a Girraffe won the Graal
- just because your opinions 
In short, find a system to be very transparent about this?

And what would stop me from choosing based on 'I like his hair and not hers'
is that I would do a draw live, with everyone's names in a bucket... or
something like that. But I see what you're saying.
I honesty was more curious if people would participate if something like the
instructions and pieces for a small MOC were at stake, but it took a turn for
the legal route

I'm not sure it'd bring you 1000s of customers, sorry to say.
(or then, yes it can become a legal problem to check and comply to)
If not: be honnest, entertain, animate, make people happy, and they'll remind
you and come back.
