Just got this email and though I’d post the first thread for it to confirm others
got it also and
1. That’s is legit.
2. That I’m not going crazy (at least in regards to this )
3. Can’t remember what the 3rd reason was

Nice! I'll make them write "Nubs_Select".

So I can be a PITA in cons and meetings

So they are going to be linking lego customer accounts with reseller accounts?
Let's hope they don't want to crack down on reselling activities again
like in the past.

Yes, I just got it too… but nothing needed to be done because I got one from
IDEAS yesterday or the day before.
A bit confusing to get the same message on all LEGO platforms.

At least I only got one from each… yet¹.

–––
¹ I made the mistake of paying S@H once with PayPal, and my PP account is on
another e-mail address than my VIP account.  So, somehow, I had a double LEGO
account.  I told them and they said “okay, I’ll merge the accounts” and I no
longer have troubles with the account… but I still receive the newsletters twice.
*sigh*

It says my nickname is a vulgar word, lol. And it tells me I have to try it again,
but then it tells me I'm only allowed to try once in 30 days. Mad IT skillz

Already don't like that I can't use my bricklink store name as it's
already used on lego.com.

I think it is the word Brick that is forbidden, I tried an unique name with bricks
in it and it is rejected. SMH, not only is Lego verbotten, but brick, plate,
and tile all are too!

I am not happy, as I am not going to change my Branding just so Lego can consolidate
and track users, which is what this is ultimately about, more data milking.

It’s not about your store name (MacsBricks), it’s your username (macebobo).
Your store name won’t change.

Your store name won’t change.

I know what you are saying, however, it will not accept MacsBricks or MaceboboBricks
or Macs_Bricks, or anything (apparently for me) with bricks in it. If someone
has has success with using Bricks in their name, I will change my opinion.

My point still stands, I do not want to be data mined by Lego, and this is where
this is all leading. It adds zero value for me and is profitable for Lego.

I opened a new account because they said we could and I use a different email
address for BrickLink. I couldn't change the assigned id using edit but there
was another link, I can't remember exactly but something like help me choose
an id and it went through.

Well, I got a green check mark when it was okay.  And the mark was there again
when I re-logged an hour ago (IDEAS yesterday = I changed and it was okay + BL
today = it was okay).

Maybe try another browser / cleaning cache-blah.

Mine also is getting the "Nickname in moderation" message with the spinning wheel,
it has been like that for several hours. I have tried clearing cache/cookies
and using a different browser but it is still the same. Not sure if it will fix
itself eventually or what I need to do.

My “new nickname” has been moderating for several hours now. Not impressed.

My Lego identity for reasons I have never been able to parse has always been
DirectorFlatulentCap. I do wonder why Flatulent was in the list of random adjectives
they used.

So is my Ideas profile name my nick and it’s that one that’s going to be used
everywhere? Then I’m set 👍!

It’s for all LEGO accounts now.

I got the same e-mail for Ideas: went there, changed my nickname (can’t remember
what it was…).
Got the BL e-mail: went again, nothing to be done, same account.

Just FYI all...

The process worked for me but only after I logged into Lego.com on another browser
tab. That may have been in the instructions but there were way too many words
in that email.

There were instructions?  If it says LEGO, I just click on the link!

BTW, did you know LEGO was funded by a Nigerian prince that’s got plenty of money
but needed my help to get at it?
Sure hope all is good for him, I haven’t heard anything since I sent him all
my savings….

My nickname is still in moderation after an hour. I think someone is in a cubicle
somewhere trying to figure out if he's got the REAL Axaday here.

This is reminding me of the twitter fiasco of getting your blue check mark or
whatever (I don't use twitter just have seen it in the news).

Are people going to "steal" popular bricklink seller store names and impersonate
them?

What's the point of all of this?

What happens if I do nothing because I don't really care if accounts are
linked or what user name they give me?

Hi rab1234,

Thank you for your questions.

The information we shared is to give our BrickLink members a chance to secure
their BL usernames for the future integration with LEGO account that will take
place next year.

As you might know, it has not been possible to create a custom nickname on the
LEGO account in the past and so deciding to open up for this feature, we wanted
to give you a head start to lock down your nickname to match your BrickLink username
because we know that in the future we will be integrating with LEGO account and
at that point some members might appreciate having the same or similar username.

The accounts will be linked at some point, if you do nothing now, it will mean
that you have the default nickname given to you when you created your account
and unless you change that, it will remain the same when the accounts are linked.
You can change the nickname anytime, this is just a chance for you to change
it before someone else takes the username that you use o BrickLink

If you have more questions there might be answers to be found in the message
that was recently posted, it also links to an FAQ

Tania, what happens if there's no Lego account to link to? If there's
no account with a matching email/address/credit card/etc, what are they going
to do?

I am glad to hear from you once again, as I was worried since your last communication
was nearly 5 months ago and that was only to wish Daniel Jezek a happy birthday.
How ironic, does TLG even think about what Dan would have wanted? I know we can't
read minds, but it can be inferred from what his spirit was when he was alive.

I am also certainly glad that TLG has time to implement something that is alienating
their customers as opposed to correcting serious flaws on the Bricklink website.
I am sure this will be fully tested (yeah, right!) before being rolled out at
one of the historically busiest times of the year outside the holiday season.
This does nothing for your users, except making their data more milkable for
information by TLG.

Please tell us how this helps us, the community (or is this something you can't
engage the community on, Ms. Community engagement?), other that the disingenuous
pap " members might appreciate having the same or similar username." Is this
the only benefit TLG could think of? Smells to high heaven to me.

I will be doing $0 holiday spending on Lego.com in protest to the fumbles on
Bricklink this year.

Signed me,
A seriously disappointed Bricklinker and Lego user.

p.s. required anti-ban message, this is out of frustration and not malice.

My Question is - Did I need to actually create a Lego account? I have never need
to go there for any reason. So now I have followed through and made a account,
for some reason I now have a problem listing items in my store. Every time I
try to list it asks me to log in every time I flip a page to list. Any help in
this matter I thank you.

Currently, it seems like the entire website is buggy. I've been logged out
like 3-4 times in the past 15 min alone

+1 pretty slow as well, quite some lagback when clicking on links and looking
thru the catalog.
