Please consider adding a note to part

Part No: 7039 Name: Wheel with 4 Studs and Metal Axle
*
7039 Wheel with 4 Studs and Metal Axle
Parts: Wheel

I have found the variant shown on the left. It seems like there are traces of
glue, so I believe there may be some versions of the tire/wheel assemblies with
this part were factory glued and that the left variant was used for this purpose.
The ridges may have been there to better hold on to the glue.

Any thoughts?

/Jan

I don't recall ever seeing one of these, which definately doesn't mean
I don't have them in my collection, but unfortunately I can't get to
all of my collection right now to check. If you only found one of these (with
glue), imo we should not add anything to the catalog untill we know more about
it.

Some questions:
How many of these did you find?
I would like to have some more info to determine the period it came from.
- Is it the 7039 version with inside supports and new Logo on studs? and if so
- does it have pat pend or pat pend obscured at the bottom?
- does it have part-id 7039 molded or any other number?
- could you please add some more images from bottom and top.

My first thought was, maybe it's used in a glued display model.

But I checked my Tow Truck from a glued display model I have from set

Set No: 218  Name: Firemen
*
218-1 (Inv) Firemen
276 Parts, 1977
Sets: Building Set with People: Fire
and all is glued except the wheels and tires: wheels are the normal 7039, without
Pat Pend, Pat Pend Obscured or number at the bottom.

Or maybe it's a prototype?!
I always wondered about this wheel

Part No: 7039c Name: Wheel with 4 Studs and Metal Axle - Inner Side Supports, Traction Teeth
*
7039c Wheel with 4 Studs and Metal Axle - Inner Side Supports, Traction Teeth
Parts: Wheel {Red}
my thoughts always were that they are supposed to be used without tires though,
for train track and tow use. As far as I know these wheels all have Pat Pend
on the bottom.

I also checked the supplemental boxes below. All bought sealed and opened to
check inventory. All have the normal 7039 wheels.

I have looked through all wheels that are in my store. I found one more of the
wheels with these side ridges with possible glue on, although one is has fewer
ridges than the other.

I've identified 12 different molds but there might be more. Please see attached
image. Unless otherwise stated, all wheels have full height inner supports, modern
logo, hollow stud insides and no ridges/glue on the edge.

Also note that there seem to be at least two types of metal axes, one may be
brass (darker and golden).
