| Suggestion: Give member-admins additional privileges, regarding other members
buying and selling.
I'm reading the post by BrickinNick (1373076) and it occurs to me, considering
that the actual BL team/help desk is usually "useless", may it be a good idea
to give reinstatement privileges to "high ranking" member admins/moderators/whatevers?
I would not say that any reinstatement would be permanent, but perhaps the admin
could do temporary reinstatements, for 1 week periods (and/or number of orders
allowed, etc). They could also communicate directly to a help desk email their
reasoning, etc, so that the actual BL team would be informed. Or better, reinstatement
would be on a new as-of-yet unbuilt page, that has an extensive comments field
for the member to state all reasons and actions, etc, to be included in an auto-report
at the time of reinstatement.
Same could be said for selling. Maybe there's an errant NSS, selling got
revoked, and seller has contacted help desk (3 weeks ago...). The member-admin
could review and reinstate, temporarily.
I'd also suggest that BL auto-email any suspension information to the member-admins
that have this privilege. They'll get the info automatically, and so they
can review all official info, plus member direct, to make their call.
There are obviously serious situations where this wouldn't be the best. There
are many simple and/or dumb situations that could be resolved in 5 minutes, if
only the help desk, well, helped in a timely manner.

No, thank you.
Longer version:
— We don’t have all the info.
— We shan’t have all the info. Personal info is personal. Non-employees shan’t
have access to members’ info.

And of course it could really backfire if a non-employee was given sensitive
information and then leaked that to the public.
Much better to have a system where the message to the helpdesk is timestamped
and an auto reply is returned saying that their case is in a queue and expected
to be dealt with by (DATE) based on the position in the queue and that further
requests from the user will move them to the back of the queue. Then if they
send another request, the previous one(s) are removed and merged with it and
the whole thing added to the back of the queue.
It ight help cut down on the posts complaining along the lines of the helpdesk
is swamped and hasn't responded to any of the 37 emails I've sent them
over the past 3 weeks.
It would also be good if they implemented an auto-cancel for NSS if the payment
was refunded via BL/PayPal onsite. That would cut down on hassle for the seller
requesting NSS removal and one less case for them to deal with each time.

Our BrickLink team may be overworked at the moment, but they are not "useless".
Members like BrickinNick were shut down for good reasons - sometimes automatically
by the system, but more often than not, by one of our administrators. These are
the same administrators that have the ability to reinstate the account. So we
are very aware in most cases of suspended accounts, because we were the ones
that did the suspending.
Sometimes the reasons cannot be disclosed, due to fraud prevention. Many times
we use "Preventive action" to shield the true nature of the probem from public
view to protect the member. Sometimes we even close an account softly to avoid
any detection of a problem from the outside.
But Forum threads typically contain only part of the story. We are tempted to
block people's Forum access when they are shut down, but so far we have felt
it is better not to take away their ability to complain about such discipline.
As for your idea of having the community help out, we cannot give our CEPs privilege
over other members' accounts. To have privilege over BrickLink accounts,
one must be a BrickLink employee and be part of our administrative team.

Useless is a rather harsh description.
I do find your use of “overworked at the moment” a bit misleading and not correct.
Do you really realize how long this has been going on? When does the “moment”
end? When does someone say enough is enough and fix the continuing inaction?
The problem has been on going for a very long time. Someone is not doing their
job. It is either the people that work on the problem or the supervisors. It
seems that those that run Bricklink are ignoring the problems . Simple platitudes
do not fix anything. Think how many sellers have been hurt by the inaction. If
it cannot be fixed hire someone that can fix the lack of timely support.

Moment is a kind way to represent what... years?
Sorry Russell, but while we're 1001% faithful and grateful to BrickLink -
and you in particular, Russell (who has done here far more and better than many
others) - I still have what 5 tickets never ever answered (some 2+ years), and
2 posts in forum about an important subject - same, zero zilch reply.
We've also no clue what the devs do on BrickLink - the Roadmap being incomplete
as per what you said one day in forum, and of course I'm not talking about
internal things that we don't care neither have to know about, but a simple
log?
The other day there was 100 posts about font changed, for some and others.
A simple line in log could have helped "Testing this font change, effects may
vary bla."
Please please please - bring us a working ticket system, and a log of changes.
Thank you!

We are in the process of building a better system but it is a long, slow process.
In the meantime we have hired multiple people for our Help Desk and they will
be starting next week. So better times are ahead!
Many of the things that occupy our time these days are having to do with compliance
- the font issue was just such a thing. We have a period of time to get it done,
and it must be done.

Great news, thank you for your time taken to inform us!
I wish they'll give you a raise; you're the most precious we've here.
You can ask them - just tell them it's because people in forum think you
deserve it, I'll gladly confirm this!

Ah yes, taxes and so on, that must be a nightmare for you'll.
On the other hand, a simple ultra-short line in a log would take ten seconds
to write
Anyway, thanks again for all.
