Well, I have hit strike 3! I’m sorry to everyone who encouraged me to stay. Long
story short, I tried to “stomp on eggshells” like seller popsicle said, and I
may have gone too far. Instead of staying where I was at with the way I talked,
I went all in and tried to post a long post about Christianity. I could not find
the terms of service, so I didn’t know it was against the rules.

The thing that is honestly making me leave is not because of all of the many
people who added me to their stop lists and least favorite store lists, but because
I am now receiving threatening private emails. I’d report the emails and user,
but as I am sure the mods are upset with me as it is, nothing will be done. Simply
because of my stance on religion, I am being very degraded. Which is expected
because in Christianity we are told to expect hate. I tried.

Sorry mods for this long post. I’m sure your gonna delete it anyway.

Thank you all in the forum who has treated me so kindly throughout the past few
months!

a good rule of thumb regarding religion in general is to treat it as your private
parts: don't show it in public unless you're in the correct forum, don't
impose it on others and stop thinking the world is being run by it

Are we not in a month where sexuality and religion is being rubbed into peoples
faces everywhere you go regardless if you want it or not?

Yes, but BrickLink is supposed to be a "safe space" where people can come together
to talk about LEGO bricks without being confronted about religion and/or sexuality.

Erikk

I haven't had anything rubbed in my face this month. The way I understand
it, this month is primarily about being free to choose who we wish to love and
partner with. It's about the freedom to do that without authoritarian intrusion
and without the fear of being targeted for violence.

This does not bother me:

Set No: 40516 Name: Everyone is Awesome
*
40516-1 (Inv) Everyone is Awesome
302 Parts, 11 Minifigures, 2021
Sets: LEGO Brand: LEGO Brand Store: Model
primarily because the various ways that other adults choose to make a life together
up has absolutely no effect on my life or my freedoms. There are other topics,
verboten in the forum, that bother me a great deal because they very much affect
my life, my family's lives and our freedoms.

I didn't, even if I don't share your enthousiasm.
I'm sorry you quit.

On the other side, IMHO, I think religion (like sexuality) is your private domain,
your private choices.

I'm not fan of proselitism - but I do recommend BrickStore ha ha - or
someone trying to "sell" me his own faith, or again, sexuality.

I think I wrote you about this and your choice of name and logo, which could
have participated to your least favorite position, plus maybe this post you're
talking about but that I didn't read (was cancelled before I came).

All that said, you shouldn't leave for this, IMHO again.

Good luck!

Preventing you from starting a religious discussion by preaching on the forum
is neither hate nor harassment.

But sending you hate messages IS harassment and is not tolerable.  So, please,
do report the hate messages to Help Desk.

(And even if you don’t trust us (or particularly me), it’s out of a Forum Moderator’s
hands anyway.)

You shouldn't quit because of this. The forum is not a place for religion
and for politics. If you around years ago the were heated debates and some very
nasty things posted without religion or politics. Imagine what the forum would
be if those were allowed.
While I hate censorship, having studied Nazi Germany and the USSR, it is not
really censorship to not allow these subjects (Forum fights). We cannot post
nude pictures of people nor can we use all the fun descriptive words we all know,
use, and understand. I look more of what is not allowed as leaving more relevant
topics germane to Lego and or the personalities of those posting and reading.
Besides, I do not want to show everyone that disagrees with my views on these
subjects how wrong they are.

I know from where you’re coming from, I understand. That said, let’s consider
what’s unfolded since you’ve jumped into the forum with both feet: All the fellow
BL members that you’ve gotten to know better? How about your Father’s Day, was
it made more? https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1346099 Or the
many others that chimed-in to lend support?

It’s about connecting with each other, real connections.

That said, the TOS are for all of us including those that run the site. They
are guardrails on the highway we have chosen to travel together upon. The Discussion
Mods in doing their job, are by design the immutability hard material of those
guardrails.

The way I see it, you're well within in the net plus column here in the forum.
But going forward please feel free to contact me, or any of the others that have
publicly shown willingness to help; we'll guide you with things such as TOS,
etc.

Personally, I view strongly held spiritual beliefs, as beautiful and delicate
flowers not to be picked or ripped from it's natural state within the mind,
but something to admired without disruption.

-Cory

Unfortunately, as I mentioned before, I couldn’t even find the TOS until the
Moderator guided me to them. That was embarrassing 😂

I honestly did try to find them before posting such a thread. If I had known
it was a written in stone rule, I would have gone towards that post very very
differently.

FYI At the bottom of every page there is a link to the terms of service (see
image below). Section 16 governs the discussion forum; more specifically, section
16.8 prohibits religious and/or political discussion.

As long as you still have forum privileges, you are welcome to continue participating
in the discussion forum. Having a message cancelled by the forum moderators does
not imply that you are banned.

As a side note, attitudes towards religion are different in different parts of
the world. What might be considered okay in Tennessee might not be considered
okay in France and vice versa.

That is a good point. See, i’m used to living in the US where we have (partial)
freedom of speech. I shouldn’t have assumed. I also did not know where the terns

It's not so much a matter of freedom of speech as it is cultural expectations.
In the U.S., people talk about religion freely. In Western Europe, religion is
considered more of a private matter, not fit for an internet discussion forum.

No no, sorry, it's absolutely not a culture problem.

This is a private Company forum, not an US public street where Constitution (should)
apply.
Please don't mix.

Here's for LEGO interest to share, under specific TOS.

Hoping that helps?

Agreed. I was responding to earlier comments claiming religion should not be
discussed in public. It absolutely can/should—just not on BrickLink.

I disagree with this. In Western Europe, it is perfectly acceptable to discuss
religion on an internet discussion forum, if that forum is for discussion of
religion. It is not that discussing it is inappropriate on the internet, but
that it is inappropriate to discuss it in inappropriate places (whether on the
internet or elsewhere).

I imagine most religious forums would not be interested in a discussion about
whether Classic Castle is better than Classic Pirates, Classic Space an Bionicle,
which team is the best football team (whether by football you mean soccer, Aussie
rules, ... ) in the world, whether Star Wars is better than Star Trek and Battlestar
Galactica, and whether coffee is better than tea. All are likely to cause off-topic
arguments and are better discussed elsewhere.

Haven't seen any arguments for the absence of the belief, thems' hard
to detect anyway, but we are pretty agnostic regarding flat silver and other
metallic colors.

Joking aside, from the looks of it, the moderators have not banned you from the
forum or asked you to change your name/picture. No one is asking you to reconsider
your faith, it's just not tos.

Thank you all in the forum who has treated me so kindly throughout the past few
months!

I hope you will take this advice, in the Spirit in which it is offered. The forum
rules restrict certain highly controversial topics in order to keep everyone
friendly, and focused on the main purpose of this site, which is after all, something
as "worldly" as selling plastic toys.
However, you might well consider that one's faithful witness needs to exist
in a much broader world than a mere lego forum, or the statements you can make
here. It is really about living and growing every day, and in every area of life,
so as to demonstrate outwardly the reality of what you believe. A wise man once
said, "The Word is not bound". The rules exist, but are only restrictive within
a very small forum. In the big scheme of things, nothing can really hold you
back from doing what you feel is right.

I hope you stick around.

You are correct! I feel, however, that If I’m not allowed to voice my opinion
on something, then there shouldn’t be any reason to stick around on this forum.
I’ve gone back and read many threads including one about removing guys from culture
and a member who sells on here a lot who is named “dragqueenbricks”. Nothing
against this person, but that just shows me that stuff like that can stay on,
and that can be a serious argument starter! this all shows to me that they simply
pick and choose what to delete and what not to (I’m sorry moderator dude. You
seem great. Don’t take offense to what I say.) I will definitely continue selling
on here, but my forum activity will drop a lot. A lot of you guys have been very
good to me! Especially @popsicle! thank you all for everything! I will show up
randomly, so be prepared! Just not so often. Ciao!
-Bricks of Faith

This reply seems as if it's trying to make a bold statement of some sort.
Anything can result in an argument depending on the environment within which
it occurs. You reference a user with a specific username as a possible source
of an argument, but that user has only made one forum post about store sales
with a reference to the current month. Rule enforcement is actually pretty consistent
here.

As someone who has just had her entire world upended because of other people's
faith, I can assure you that you expressing (ie shoving down other's throats)
your opinion on your faith is NOT A LITTLE THING. It is offensive and outright
vulgar.

Further, if your opinion's on your faith was such a little thing, you wouldn't
be proselytizing in a completely inappropriate place.

Thank you for speaking up. I've been searching and searching for the words
to say the same thing.

I, too, am offended and wish I didn't have to see such symbols here where
they don't belong.

Thanks Bricks Of Faith.
It will be sad to see you go as I have enjoyed seeing you post funny things and
insights on lego.

You will be missed,

Like they say their is a time and place for everything but I do agree that a
LEGO marketplace forum is meant for LEGO and maybe some pizza. But don’t be discouraged
there’s always a learning curve with everything. Perhaps you should do a 4 strike
game instead of a 3 strike game before calling it a day . It is very sad to
hear you received emails like that but it does not represent the bricklink LEGO
community in any major way.

And also an advacato plant which might just make it big one day. (I don’t know
how to spell it and autocorrect didn’t help)
