Hello everybody,

We've temporarily changed the date for the Spring category move from May
1 to July 1. If you recall, last year it was set at April 1, but going forward
we plan to stick with May 1.

Please refer to this page for a list of all items changing in this cycle:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2520

We had previously announced this in a newsletter, but we have since added a number
of other items to the list.

There is a relatively new category that we are beginning to populate:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogListOld.asp?catType=P&catString=1215

It is called Human Jewelry, and we will be moving several bracelets and rings
there - all Parts that were previously considered to be Gear items.

The 2 changes with the most marketplace effect are these:

Part No: 32606 Name: Plant Flower with Bar and Small Pin Hole
*
32606 Plant Flower with Bar and Small Pin Hole
Parts: Plant

Part No: 11609 Name: Plate, Round 1 x 1 with Star and Small Pin Hole
*
11609 Plate, Round 1 x 1 with Star and Small Pin Hole
Parts: Plate, Round
which will be moved out of the Friends category and into non-themed generic categories.
A large majority of the uses of these parts are outside the Friends theme, especially
in recent years.

Is there any reason why only that one flower is being moved and not the rest
of the similar ones? Going to make it very confusing.

Everything else looks good, and I'm glad to see the minecraft heads aren't
in the list any longer.

Yes, there is a good reason. The two parts above have a "Friends ratio" of 32/124
(26%) and 64/162 (40%) respectively.

Other parts like these:

Part No: 18854 Name: Friends Accessories Sunglasses / Glasses with Small Pin
*
18854 Friends Accessories Sunglasses / Glasses with Small Pin
Parts: Friends

Part No: 11618 Name: Friends Accessories Hair Decoration, Bow with Heart, Long Ribbon, and Small Pin
*
11618 Friends Accessories Hair Decoration, Bow with Heart, Long Ribbon, and Small Pin
Parts: Friends

Part No: 18853 Name: Friends Accessories Hair Decoration, Flower with Pointed Petals and Small Pin
*
18853 Friends Accessories Hair Decoration, Flower with Pointed Petals and Small Pin
Parts: Friends
are different in that they are "hair" accessories attached with a small pin and
don't enjoy the general cross-theme use of the two above. The Friends ratio
for these are 63/65 (97%) and 113/166 (68%) and 50/98 (51%) respectively.

We will consider moving these last three later.

Part No: 93081e Name: Friends Accessories Flower with 7 Thin Petals and Pin

They seem like a good fit for the plant category.

Thanks for the informative reply. I understand those items, I was thinking for
in terms of these flowers:

Part No: 93081c Name: Friends Accessories Flower Rose with Pin
*
93081c Friends Accessories Flower Rose with Pin
Parts: Friends {Red}

Part No: 93081d Name: Friends Accessories Flower with 6 Rounded Petals and Pin
*
93081d Friends Accessories Flower with 6 Rounded Petals and Pin
Parts: Friends {Red}

Part No: 93081e Name: Friends Accessories Flower with 7 Thin Petals and Pin
*
93081e Friends Accessories Flower with 7 Thin Petals and Pin
Parts: Friends {Red}

Seeing as these three aren't "hair pins" and are very similar to the one
being moved, I'd suggest considering moving these also.

I have a very lower friends ratio; maybe BrickLink takes me far too many time

This is certainly a step in the right direction - the sooner that "Friends" category
is removed the better if you ask me.

Most of the items in there should be under minifigure accessory (handbags, frying
pan, medical equipment etc.) or a new category "Mini Doll, Hair Accessory" for
the various hairpins/sunglasses. Also some plants (flowers) and animals (starfish
etc.)

If it wasn't for the fact that the utensil category is so bloated already,
I'd heartily agree with you. But until a tag system is implemented or someone
finds a good way to break that category into several, I think the Friends category
should stay.

Since the Scala category has been around for so long, it is probably best to
keep them there. However, it is worth looking into for the next set of moves
come October 1.

Cheers,
Randy
