| So, having acknowledged the following caveats in the BL Seller Terms of Service:
-----------------------
"1.2.4
Modified Parts: All parts listed in your store must be genuine LEGO parts in
their original, unmodified condition. Custom printed, engraved, chromed, or painted
parts are not permitted.
1.2.5
Custom Sets: Custom sets or instructions may be listed, provided they do not
infringe on any intellectual property rights, including those of the LEGO Group.
Custom sets may not contain modified parts or non LEGO parts such as lighting
kits or electric motors."
-----------------------
In the many parts I've yet to list in my store, the so-called 'rare'
colours (i.e. yellow-green, turquoise, etc.) are becoming a problem. We all know
that quantity sells, and I don't feel that I have enough of any one common
part in the 'rare' colours to attract buyer interest. For example, *all*
of my current unlisted turquoise parts consist of 1 of each: 2456, 3001, 3010,
and a 3958 (yes, four whole parts!) Plus, I really don't want to waste the
time listing these parts individually.
So, in instances where I have but 25 or less variable parts of a single colour,
I'm considering simply bagging all parts of like colours together and selling
them as a single item.
Q1: Is this considered 'custom' as defined by 1.2.5? It's not, in
essence, a "set", but it's most definitely a Super Lot (General Bulk Lot).
Just curious regarding the answer.
Q2: Of the sellers reading this post, what experiences have you had in the past,
on average, with selling Super Lots?

| Hi,
The words used in the ToS and the words used for stores don’t apply to the same
things, or at least differently.
ToS: custom part, custom set = not LEGO.
Store: custom lot = something that’s not in the catalogue but is genuine
LEGO (ToS-wise).
That includes:
— a new part or set that is not in the catalogue yet,
— a bunch of unsorted parts,
— a MOC / design you made and for which you sell parts and/or instructions (or
someone else made but you have their authorization to sell).
And a super lot ( https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=512 ) is when you
list all the parts individually but force the buyer to buy them together.
So, if you don’t want to enter all the parts, what you want is a custom lot…
but it won’t be very visible to searches.
And if you want the parts to be easily found by buyers, you have to enter them
all one by one… and make a super lot of them… but the other inconvenience is
that they aren’t that easily searchable anyway beacause super lots aren’t included
in searches by default (because some sellers abused them to attract buyers with
low prices on most of the items of the super lot and one item overpriced (think
series of collectible minifigs, all at $1 but one at $100)).

| Hi Sylvain,
Thank you for a very definitive answer. It helps greatly.
As an aside, however, you realists have a knack for sapping the fun out of our
dreams!

I can’t know if there’s a reality, but if there’s, it is the weirdest dream,
weirder than what we can dream.
Hmm, I think I’m gonna make that a tattoo… or go to bed

For rare parts you don't necessarily need quantity to sell.
