With all the recent talk about when to leave feedback and concerns of retaliation
feedback for leaving honest feedback the best way I see to remedy that would
be to have a system where the buyer or seller can leave feedback at any time
but it won’t actually display the feedback for anyone to see until either:-

Both parties have left feedback for each other whereby the feedback is then revealed
at the same time!

Or if only one party leaves feedback the timescale for leaving feedback will
eventually expire revealing what has been left with no further opportunity for
retaliation!

At least that way both buyers and sellers can be confident of being able to share
their honest experience without the fear of jeopardising their own account for
doing so!

Good idea!
In Belgium there is a site called 2dehands (part of ebay) where feedback is posted
as you describe.
Feedback is visible after 30 days OR when buyer AND seller have posted their
feedback.

If ebay are involved in that site its surprising they have'nt adopted the
same for ebay though I guess it could be that they share a similar view to myself
where the only true account that needs to be rated is the store selling rather
than the indidual buying

However either option would be better than what we have now although if the idea
I've mentioned was adopted I think the 30 days may need to be increased as
extra time may be required for a replacement to arrive if the original order
went missing or was damaged/incorrect especially if its an international transaction

Honest experience?

But sometimes while it may be honest, it's just plain wrong.
Like "I didn't receive the same color as on the Picture"

At least right now you can discuss a Feedback with a Buyer/Seller.

I guess it would then be an Administrative nightmare: there will be many tickets
and emails sent to admin "Please remove this obviously wrong Feedback".

If you wish this way, then:
* feedback should be numeric only (ex: 1 to 5)
* this way no illegal feedback could be posted (like links or insults)
* then admins wouldn't remove any feedback.

But then it's another story...

How is that different to the feedback someone might leave today?

Who's to say you can't still have the opportunity to communicate with
a buyer/seller about a feedback revision?

Not really as admins will treat feedback removals in the same way they do today
where they basically don't remove any feedback unless exceptional circumstances

What you wrote: in the case "with no further opportunity for retaliation!"

And even if they both post their FB and after 1 month it's revealed and may
be discussed, 1 month may be a long delay to start a discussion while the order
could have arrived 2 days later...

In short: I dislike (and voted No) this solution because both its delayed
and surprise effect.

Some will even find some "angst" if they're not sure of the other
party decision in say, a minor discrepancie...

Yes and I meant what I said because once feedback is revealed there would be
no opportunity for either party to retaliate just because they don't like
what the other person has left. If both parties agree to remove a feedback then
thats a different thing entirely

And even if they both post their FB and after 1 month it's revealed and may
be discussed, 1 month may be a long delay to start a discussion while the order
could have arrived 2 days later...

and why does that matter? You read the negative feedback, you try to explain
to the buyer why you don't feel its justified and they either accept your
point of view and change it or they don't?

In short: I dislike (and voted No) this solution because both its delayed
and surprise effect.

Some will even find some "angst" if they're not sure of the other
party decision in say, a minor discrepancie...

And why does that concern you when you previously said this:-
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1327398

and this:-

https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1327407

oh and this:-

https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1327136

So in summary you don’t feel you should be worried about leaving feedback first
because only 0.001% are problematic orders?

Apparently anyone that leaves feedback after receiving feedback is a coward and
yet you are afraid of receiving a surprise feedback? Please tell me how that
is different from receiving a negative feedback after you’ve already left your
buyer a positive feedback? Will that not also be a surprise for you?

And in that last post what you say is just frankly bizarre! You go from sounding
like feedback doesn’t matter to you and yet in this thread you appear concerned
about what surprise feedback might be left for you?

I think you just make up what your saying as you go along without actually giving
what you say much thought?
