Not sure if this has ever been proposed... but what if we listed Instructions
that have more than one book with the ability to part them out...

I have a bunch of used instruction books that are missing 1 or more of the books
in the set. I hate to list them and then note that "THIS IS ONLY FOR BOOK 2".
It messes with the pricing.

It would be like parting out a minifigure...

Let me know what you all think. Thanks!

This is a great idea. It would also be much easier for buyers searching for only
1 book to find these as well.

I see these listed all the time. Buyers are looking for these, it's not the
seller's fault if the only way these can be listed is under the general listing
with a note.

It is not the only way. There is always the possibility of a custom listing.
Just like a minifigure that is missing a part is not the minifigure, a set of
instruction books missing one or more is not the instructions. So maybe custom
listings are better in that case.

Hi Roxanne,

that´s a great idea. Please do so. I have some as well were books are missing
for whatever reason.
Unfortunatly, i won´t or can´t be a buyers of yours, for shipping reasons.
I don´t buy heavy items from overseas, unless not to get from anywhere nearby,
and only if absolutely necessary.

Good luck, and thank you for your service.

While I agree that this would be a nice feature, it would take an extraordinary
amount of work to add every separate instruction booklet to the catalog, create
and submit an image, add weight and dimensions, and inventory the base set of
instructions. Speaking as a contributor, I shudder at the thought...

Can anyone with access to the data even calculate the number of sets with multiple
booklets and their quantity?

Apart a manual count...

But I've found a way to get an approximation?

On the list of 10828 Instructions in the Catalog recently (xml download), the
most recent ones have a weight.

I don't believe (and checked) that the Instructions weighting less than 50g
can have multiple booklets - for cost production reasons.

So, a bit more than 3000 weight more than 50g.
Maybe the half or 2 thirds have multiple booklets (based on catalog pictures).

That's 1500/2000 Instructions with multiple booklets.

With a bit more than 2 booklets per instructions (on avg) that'd mean more
than 4000 booklets should be pictured, measured, inventoried.

This would be an insane work, for very few cases of buyers wanting a specific
booklet, especially considering the value of Instructions, sometimes close to
the cent
