| I'm looking to buy a large order from Germany worth about £500 and have it
shipped to the UK. I understand that because it's over £135 that UK Customs
will hold the package and ask for the 20% Import Tax.
I was wondering if Lego is subject to additional Customs charges though? Has
anyone Imported orders into the UK of this sort of value and did you have to
pay any additional charges as well as the 20% Import tax?
Thanks

It will be 20% VAT + £8 if Royal Mail handle it. If another courier, there might
be a different processing fee.

At least you got rid of most of the New Normal restrictions. Her in Germany we
are really suffering.

If its any help...
I placed a Germany order for EUR 938 and my additional fees were broken down
as follows:-
Customs Duty £39.84
Import VAT £207.18
Clearnace Fee £25
Total £272.02
This was handled with Parcel Force Worldwide. One thing I can tell you is that
it says on their site that the clearance fee will only be £12 if order value
is under £900/EUR 1000 but I still got hit with £25 clearance fee so probably
best to stay below the £800 mark to ensure you only pay £12 instead
At the end of the day it may seem like a lot to pay out but you have to weigh
up
A) whether you can source what you need within UK?
B) whether your still saving overall even when taking all these fees into consideration?
This was the case for me on both counts and so it would'nt put me off placing
further Europe/Germany orders as and when I need to

Hi yes the parts I'm after can't be bought in the UK in the quantity
I'm after. There are a few German stores that have them but that's it
in the whole of Europe.
