I'm not sure what "c" stands for (maybe "combination"?) but parts ending
in "cxx" are assemblies where the "main" part is identified by the number prior
to "cxx". For example:
vs
So you'll see the "cxx" designator often with Hips and Legs assemblies as
well as Torso assemblies:

ehm my "x" was not intended as a variable, but the literal x, since I saw a "cx1"
here
anyway, I appreciate the explanation, it makes sense

Generally, it will be *c01, *c02, et cetera with the 'c' standing for
Combination. The numbers are just a sequence number. Parts with a number
ending in c01 refer to composite parts, that may or may not be preassembled or
glued by LEGO.
The 41 parts that have a number ending in cx1, like the 14 parts ending in cx2,
are relics from the past. These numbers originate on another platform before
the parts where ported to Bricklink. Similarly to how the *p00 and *px00 numbers
are distinct from the general *pb00 numbers (Patterned Bricklink).

AFAIK: no, you can't.
I filtered in Excel through a downloaded catalog from https://www.bricklink.com/catalogDownload.asp

Thanks for your thoroughly researched input on this. I think this could easily
be solved by our inventory admins.
