That use in set 9392 could just have an inventory change to correct it?
They both have very specific titles and have both been around as individual entries
for many years.

PD: I have one 2850b in stock and it has molded the ID 2850, so 2850b entry is
good

There are a few things.
Name from 2850 was just changed from "Technic, Engine Cylinder" to "Technic Engine
Cylinder with Side Slots" in Sep 28, 2020 not when the new 2850b part was created
in 2012.
Why the entry of the variant was cataloged as 2850b if there was no plan to also
create 2850a by splitting 2850?
Appearance of 2850b now starts from 2009, but it is the catalog only since 2012,
so sets inventoried in between that dates using 2850 could have been actually
with 2850b, but we don't know.
Some of them haven't been verified after the addition of the new variant
to the catalog.
That's is why I added a question mark at the tittle.

Yes, the original 2850 entry should not have been retitled. This name change
needs to reverted, and the part needs to be properly split with the addition
of a 2850a.

I think I submitted all the things needed.
Only thing is I don't have both parts in stock to make a comparison photo
to add as alternate image.

All of the Trans-Clear, Light Gray, and Dark Bluish Gray 2850 in inventories
can be switched to 2850a immediately.
If you or anyone else would like to start that process, please do. (I would
do it on my own, but I don't have Inventory Admin privileges at this time.
