I just disassembled the Simpson,s House 71006 getting it ready to sell and have
had several of the brown plates and tiles broken on the edges when I removed
them. Only brown ones did this. I bought this when it came out and built once
and then displayed until now. Is this a come defect? Have others had this problem?
I am kind of at loss to explain this.
Any help would be appreciated.
My long absence from the forum is because I am selling my Simpsons collection
and just have not had the time. It is not because I died.
thanks to anyone that can help,
John P

Lego had QC problems with Reddish Brown and Dark Brown in the late '00s and
early '10s, and a lot of parts from that era -- specifically bricks and
plates and tiles, it seems -- were brittle. It is a common defect. Lego might
be willing to replace the parts for free through Bricks & Pieces, at least the
ones they have in stock, if you try.

Yes, it is a known problem. Reddish brown parts from the time period that the
Simpsons house came out are known to be brittle. I had the exact same problem
when I disassembled the roof on my Simpsons house.

Good job not dying.

I have to say that when I took apart both of these sets I had major issues with
reddish brown, some poor quality material for a while.

She probably got tired of him being the embracement of the town laying out next
to the pool soakin up the sunbeams with his naked barbies so maybe she convinced
him to lock himself away in a room to play with Lego instead of, well, you
know.

My collection is gone. I have my first Lego set, the London Bus. The Simpsons
things were part of a Simpsons collection, no Lego collections. I am selling
all my Simpsons things now, before I die.

I am glad I am not dead too. My wife is being very nice not I am selling Simpsons,
she is getting her house back. I had 4200 items. Have about a third left to
sell. Simpsons will sell here when I figure out how selling now works.

In case you missed the sales tax changes:

Because of the method BL uses to collect sales tax, you will have to setup Instant
Checkout to sell to a majority of the states.

So that Sylvain does not have to jump in with a precision: you don't need
instant checkout, but you do need onsite payment.

I connected my account with paypal. Is that all I have to do? I feel so lost

I would also remove your other Offsite payment methods: PayPal & USPS Money
Order
. Doing so, removes them from the payment options offered the buyer
at checkout: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/mystore/payments.page

It otherwise can complicate the transaction, for the seller

Other than that, looks good.

I just did that I think. Could you check from your end. Also what about weight
and dimensions. I would think that is especially important when it comes to
DIM weight and Simpsons' House and Kwik-E-Mart.

Thank you, and the others, for the help. It means a lot to me that you guys
responded.
It is interesting comparing ebay and here for the differences. Both have their
advantages.

I still see PayPal offered as an offsite payment option, but of course I don't
have that option as I live in a state for which BrickLink collects sales tax.
I can only pay with PayPal onsite. Now that said, your only shipping method is
request for invoice so I don't know whether your invoice template is good.

I just did that I think. Could you check from your end. Also what about weight
and dimensions. I would think that is especially important when it comes to
DIM weight and Simpsons' House and Kwik-E-Mart.

I still see PayPal offered as an offsite payment option, but of course I don't
have that option as I live in a state for which BrickLink collects sales tax.
I can only pay with PayPal onsite. Now that said, your only shipping method is
request for invoice so I don't know whether your invoice template is good.

Do you mean I have to remove the paypal choice so that none show?
thank you,

Just the Offsite option (you currently offer two PayPal options)

Is it the way it should be or should I change things. I am sorry for being so
dense.

I connected my account with paypal. Is that all I have to do?

I would also remove your other Offsite payment methods: PayPal & USPS Money
Order
. Doing so, removes them from the payment options offered the buyer
at checkout: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/mystore/payments.page

It otherwise can complicate the transaction, for the seller

Other than that, looks good.

Looks good.

Another thing - If you’re gonna keep your foreign shipping in place, be
aware that VAT collection is in effect now. Like Sales Tax, it’s handled by BL
(or third-party) nothing you’ll need to concern yourself over other than the
occasional unwitting overseas buyer that may ask about the charges.

Your Offsite PayPal is still up.

As to your concern over "weight and dimensions" You're not using the Instant
Checkout side of "Onsite" You'll need to manually invoice with the shipping
charges you determine. Still somewhat old-school, John.

I think that was what you were telling me to do.

Thank you for all your help. Not a lot will be on for sale. I took apart the
Simpsons house last night and need to inventory it. I am going to list the little
Dimensions things, and I have the minifigures to list. Just a bit, but the fees
are so much less here and I said I would list them here, even though I feel totally
stupid at this point.
Now I just collect Eaglemoss things, got to love spaceships and Deloreans.
thanks again,
John P

selling

It was you. OK, I have the order, how do I figure shipping to add that in and
I do not know the zip code and then I send an invoice? This is confusing.
I had no idea how things have clanged in the last 10 years.

I figured it out all by myself. Didn't know you were in Hong Kong. Small
world isn't it. Invoice sent, I sorta feel that $145 shipping was a bit
much.

That order status thing thing on the sales page is sort of like ordering Domino's
Pizza on line -- order processing. Does the shipping label print out somewhere?
