| In the Terms and Conditions page of a store I ordered from, it says:
| As a buyer, you have 7 days to verify the contents of your order after it is delivered to let me know if something is missed or not correct (it does happen from time to time). If you contact me after 7 days to report an issue, I will refer you back to my terms and conditions, where I am no longer responsible for taking care of any issues with your order.
|
Is this policy enforceable if there actually is an issue with the package contents
and the buyer files a NSS 8 days after receiving the order?
I'm still waiting for my package from them so it is completely hypothetical.

It might be enforceable, depending on local laws and the method of payment used.
Obviously if you paid by PayPal or used a credit card with Stripe, it would not
be enforceable.

| Thank you for the answer, it makes sense for Paypal. I'm not sure not sure
for Stripe since I've never heard about a buyer protection feature from them.
I was also wondering about the BrickLink policy since the help page for the NSS
alert doesn't even mention the case where the package contents doesn't
match the order: https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=110

I don't know whether there is or not but you could certainly dispute the
charge with your credit card company.

My guess is you have 7 days after you receive the order, not 7 days after it
is shipped. That would give international buyers of theirs hardly any chance
if any to report issues.
We have a similar store policy of 14 days, but clearly specify 14 days after
order is delivered, not shipped.

| Thank you for the answer, it is indeed from the day the order is received, not
shipped, but I'm wondering how it compares to BrickLink's policy to report
package contents discrepancies with the order.
Have you ever personally got away with not addressing a package contents issue
more than 2 weeks after a buyer received it thanks to your terms?

I haven't had too many cases of that actually. This isn't a strict rule.
If it's only a couple days over, they have a reasonable explanation for delay,
it's obvious on our side that we did make an error, then we'll rectify
the mistake.
Of the few others, it's always been a couple months later (beyond paypal
claim deadline), and once I point them to my store terms, they usually disappear.
I haven't had any issues so far.

Different people will read it in different ways. I read it as the seller saying
they are no longer responsible for taking care of any problems after 7 days...
so you might as well not bother telling them and go straight to PayPal without
giving the seller a chance to rectify any problem, as the seller has already
refused to help.

| I guess it's one way of interpreting it, but I'm not sure it's what
the seller had in mind.
