Hi

I am having an issue I have not had in the past. I have a buyer who appears to
have marked an order placed with me as paid, however I had not yet invoiced the
buyer. Now I cannot add a shipping cost to the order prior to sending an invoice.

I also cannot unmark the order as paid.

Has anyone had this issue in the past and if so I would appreciate any advice?

Have you tried to edit the order. Click the link at the bottom of the order and
change the payment status to 'Not yet paid'

Hi. Thanks for the suggestion. Yes tried that and same, still greyed out on there
and can’t move the paid Dropbox back.

Since the order total is printed in bold, that indicates the invoice has been
sent already. Perhaps automatically?

Toggle some more display settings through https://www.bricklink.com/orderSettingsCols.asp
so you can see all relevant columns.

Since the buyer is in the EU (and you are not), and the amount is under € 150,
Bricklink handles VAT. I'd say that would go through onsite payment, but
in this case maybe it even went through instant checkout. Have you setup some
instant checkout shipping methods? If so, eat your loss, fix the methods and
consider it lesson learned.

I thought Order Total in bold simply meant that either BrickLink or the buyer
marked the order paid.

An invoice would have generated the green check mark. I have never seen it happen
any other way.

I'm watching this thread closely as I've got the same issue. I have
an order from France, for a set that is over 1 Lb. I've got my store to
not permit instant checkout on orders over 1 Lb. Anyways, the order came in
and when I went to invoice it, it says I can't edit an order that is already
paid. They have not paid, I have not invoiced, they don't even have a shipping
charge. I've emailed the buyer to ask them if they clicked on something
they shouldn't ahve on their end.

Similar to the OP, mine is a european buyer, mine is a NEW buyer (0 feedback).
I'm stuck, and unsure of what to do.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

What payment type did the buyer use? I think if the buyer chooses an offsite
payment method then he or she can mark the order as paid (even if it isn't).
Can you edit the order (from the order detail page) and change the paid status?

An update to my situation, I was able to communicate with the buyer and asked
them to set the payment status back to 'pending' or whatever the original
status was. Once that was done I was able to send the invoice. I'm not
sure if the buyer accidentally select a 'sent' status on the payment
on their side, but getting them to change it back worked.

This was not something I was able to update or correct on my end, I needed cooperation
from the buyer to be able to do this.

BrickLink took away our ability as sellers to change order status for some orders
when they implemented XP and made other changes to the Order Status system. We
have no idea if it was done on purpose, or if it was a development oversight,
but it certainly is a terrible idea.

If buyers place an order that needs an invoice, they are prompted by a reminder
on the My BL page to mark their order Paid. So, new members who don't understand
our unusual system of invoice-then-payment are actually encouraged to do the
wrong thing.

I guess BL was designed with the idea that sellers should be able to send custom
invoices that don't go through the BL system. Because otherwise, I can't
understand why a buyer would be able to mark an order paid that hasn't even
been invoiced yet.
