I agree that limits may need to be implemented for new members to avoid this
nonsense. Wish you the best of luck and hopefully this can be contained soon.
Appreciate the work you do!

Thanks, it is really needed. maybe the limit is not needed to be one 1 or 2,
up to 5 or 10 posts would be easily cancellable.
Hope you have a good coffee while you cancel 13776 posts...

This is one of those moments a bit of programming wouldn't hurt if no means
to wipe every post a user has made simultaneously exists.

The best way to prevent it in the future without limitation of new users used
on many forums - user can make post at the forum once a minute and answer to
the created post once a 30 seconds.

Even if you allow new members 10 posts in a 24 hour period that might be a flexible
starting point as most questions/issues can be resolved within that number of
posts and even if it requires further replies they only have to wait until the
following day to continue where they left off. Can't imagine a spammer is
going to cause too much havoc with just 10 posts!
Either way I fear the bigger issue is that they are able to create multiple new
accounts so quickly and without the need to verify themselves in some way?

Another thing I would suggest: allow users to add "no longer registered" users
to their forum ignore lists. I was able to add a few of the spam accounts last
night but I see that the issue continues this morning, and I can't do anything
about the wall of "(Cancelled)" posts.

I'm Having issues with it applying, it says it's saved the changes then
when I go into the forum it hasn't and has even changed the view so that
it doesn't show all in order as the replies which I had it previously set

I'm unable to save that setting -- it appears to save, but when I go
to the Forum it clearly hasn't taken, and when I go back to the Forum Settings
it's no longer checked, plus my other settings are reset.

Sure does.
My guess is that the settings appear to be saved because the form fields on the
page are populated by the submitted form data rather than being read back from
the database.

First, thanks for putting up with this, and operating a defacto wastewater treatment
plant. If only there was an anaerobic digestion tank for spammy forum traffic.
Second, with respect to new users having access to the forum ... my view is that
they should be restricted to one topic, sort of a "BL welcomes new members" topic
for the first 30 days or so, and possibly rate limit their activity. That would
corral them into a more manageable space.
