| I imagine I'm not the only one to be aware of this grammar mistake. When
searching a store's inventory, there's a drop-down menu that says "All
Filters." Once it's been expanded, it can be minimized by clicking "Less
Filters."
Properly, in English grammar, when there is a countable noun, we do not use the
quantitative adjective "less". That's flat-out wrong. We must say "fewer".
We can say "less milk," but not "less cookies." We must say "fewer cookies."
So here, English grammar demands that we say "Fewer Filters."
I do think that correcting this error will enhance the site's professionalism.

I can't remember ever seeing a website using "Fewer" instead of "Less".
Rules are meant to be broken, especially grammar rules than are stupid.

Alas, you are correct, but BL is not so great with the grammar thing. You
should see the Seller Message Template Settings page if you want to correct something
terrible.
I will say in their defense that not everyone who works there is a native English
speaker.
It's sso hard to get thingss corrected on this ssite.

@Jen, Wow! The seller template page is atrocious! I had not noticed the fewer-less
controversy. I believe that one may go unnoticed by a great deal of American
sellers versus the original and true English speaking countries overseas. I am
from the south and not a open seller as of this moment, but some sellers grammar
needs a touch of work as well. I am glad to see that people care about the little
things here. This reminds me of the Polaner All Fruit commercial, I'm the
bumpkin in the middle of the aristocrats that are politely asking to please pass
the Polaner, then I pop up and say, " Can you please pass the jelly?" I will
never ask for less or fewer cookies by the way, maybe more please! I really do
hope a resolution is reached and all parties are satisfied.
P.S. I was an English major my first 2 years of college, but I failed to graduate
and became a plumber and transitioned into plumbing wholesale and now trying
my hand at Lego, so I am sure there are mistakes in my reply as well.
Sincerely,
John AG

Perhaps they'll change it to say "Necessary Filters"

You are correct about the grammar. However, “less” is very commonly used this
way in the United States. Much more commonly than “fewer”. There is a fuzzy
line between poor grammar and a language evolving. They’re/there/their is clearly
on one side of the line for me, as an example, but less/fewer doesn’t bother
me.

I like this point of view!
My kid loved the Weird Al Word Crimes video when he was little. It's been
playing in my head since this thread started yesterday...
