| Just adding this suggestion for members to vote on.
I have been told in the past that BrickLink does not like to inundate users with
excess emails so they may be hesitant to overly communicate with members, sellers
specifically with this suggestion. I believe this is false and users would prefer
more communication.
My suggestion is that BrickLink management will message sellers via email directly
prior to any scheduled downtime. If estimates for down time are extended, further
communications should be sent. If there are bugs that are discovered during post-install
testing that effect ecommerce, the API or inventories, it should be openly communicated.
Not a banner on the top of the screen and not a post that will be buried on the
forum. Actual communication that is intended to reach it's audience.
Thank you for your support.

| It is a primary focus for BrickLink to increase transparency to what we are doing
|
through communication and collaboration
Today was the day we needed engagement and communication and we got none. Please
look into setting up processes to address the community when things break. At
bare minimum please have a process for the following steps
1. acknowledgement of problem
2. how is it being addressed
3. regular communication intervals until it's fixed
Perhaps these comms can be set up on a dedicated status page that is easy to
get to (perhaps: status.bricklink.com)
We understand that things happen but when there is no communication or transparency
that the problem is known or being addressed it becomes stressful to run a store.

I would prefer not to get an email from BrickLink every day informing me of scheduled
downtime.

Agreed, I am referencing non-standard maintenance, not the daily cycle. Sorry
if it was not clear enough.

BrickLink did send an email out on 8 May 2021 regarding todays downtime.
There was also a forum post: https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1270750
That being said, I do agree that there should be more emails to all members.
Just look at how many members still don't know why they can't buy or
sell in the USA due to not having an onsite payment method enabled for US state
sales tax.

Neither the email send out on May 8th nor the email sent out on March 31st mention
the scheduled downtime.
