| So i have a
But the monkey in it seems to have brown limbs and the body is a strange colour.
I don't have much experience with the much older browns but the body does
look more Reddish Brown. However that did not exist in 1990.
I have a photo here against the modern Reddish Brown.
Did the old Brown come in different shades?

According to the inventory the body of the monkey did come in both Reddish Brown
and Brown.
It is hard to tell from the picture, but it does appear that you have a RB body
with Brown legs. I have one from
and can confirm that even though the legs (minifig arms) are more glossy
in finish, they are closer in color for a full Brown fig than what you picture
is showing.

At least on monkey parts yes its a known issue - probably just down to different
plastic used.
I sold one recently and added a note 'All parts are old brown but legs are
duller shade than body'
I've had them in the past like that from sets 6270 and 6285 which are the
same era as your set above.
