We've had many reports recently of long wait times for New Seller Verification.
The main reason is that we have a backlog of requests at the moment - more than
usual - but an additional reason is because some of your requests were being
reset by the Help Desk as they were merged with new reminders from you.

Essentially, some of you were losing your place in line by inquiring as to the
progress of your request. This was in no way intended and we have as of today
changed our internal process so this will not happen in the future.

In addition, we will go through about 500 current requests to find which of you
were disadvantaged in this way, and then we will move you to the front of the
line where you should be.

We apologize for this error, especially for any established sellers this happened
to because they changed their country location. For those cases, we have decided
to allow a second account for buying internationally. If you are one of those
affected sellers, please contact me directly.

Thanks Russell! My internal process has also changed recently, allowing me to
now process restaurant takeout at twice the speed as usual. I blame Covid...
and Donald Trump, because why not?

Actually the help desk was informed of the merging of messages and tickets at
the same time as the site messed up the buyer and seller address settings. The
ticket I created to report that was promptly merged with a different closed ticket,
at which point I just gave up on customer service from BrickLink.

Presumably you have now also informed the 500 or so lagged requests to stop asking
for information or creating new tickets or actually contacting the helpdesk as
you would have to do this combing through requests every day?

Since you can manually prioritise, maybe you should prioritise sellers who through
a site error had their stores closed as a result of changing buyer addresses,
to first in the queue. Internal processes or the not, it is just not acceptable
to have a long time seller and contributor still not open after 24 days.

As regards new accounts - if sellers avail themselves of this opportunity, how
do you propose getting around seller protection? How do you propose to carry
the feedback over as many users apparently find value in that number? Have you
put processes in place to make sure that requests to merge accounts are not executed
by unwary employees (seriously - what happens the day you are not there to enforce
this forum change to the ToS?) or other admins who might not be aware of this?
How do you propose to set buying privileges for internationally only? Are you
going to grade buyers as well so they all start as domestic only and then have
to request the ability to buy internationally?

A word also - sellers do change their country location as it is impossible to
move all the inventory in one day to another continent and back again just to
complete a buy order. I have never moved my store to another country. I have
frequently used a different delivery address for buy orders though.

Unfortunately my internal processes now completely prohibits me from buying on
BrickLink. So in the case of this buyer, contributor and seller, it is a case
of too little too late. Very serious damage to my business and irreparable
harm to my ability to service domestic buyers in a manner they have come to expect
from my store has been done, and a forum change to the ToS this late in the game
cannot hope to undo that. It would have engendered more confidence if BrickLink
made an effort to fix the mistake rather than handing out plasters for spewing
wounds.

Why not warn new registrants how long the wait is when they apply, to cut down
on both unnecessary support tickets and forum posts about it.

Good idea, and probably simplify and automate as much as possible of this process.
I am sure a lot about it is repetitive. It is very safe to say Bricklink does
not have the manpower to handle this in a timely manner, so better to look at
structural improvements rather than catching up. Bricklink has spent many years
catching up..

Just going on the amount of posts about it here, it is not prominent enough and
should maybe contain a more realistic timescale.

Thanks for your message and information.
This still leaves a lot of questions unanswered though.
What is the process to verify an account?
Is this all manually done?
How many do you do in a day?
How long is said queue? Is it 500 or more or less?
Where are people in said queue?

I know I am new here and I know certain things need to be verified, but communication
is key.

Saying "This process may take up to two weeks or even longer, depending on the
number of applications we receive." means nothing is the only thing it means
is, it gets done when it gets done. This causes frustration in people who signed
up to use your site as this is no clear answer.

Again, I have no insight in BL or anything, but communication is everything.
Tell us where we stand and give time frames you actually keep, don't just
say, it takes as long as it takes.

If there is something wrong with an application (which I do not know if that
is the case with mine), let me know please and don't just wait it out.

Thanks

Umm.....you might as well get used to no communication. They don't know how
to do that. We have been asking for YEARS and it falls on deaf ears. Can't
get passed the 'Vader' to get up the ladder to someone who might care.

What is the process to verify an account?

This is an internal process that was designed to prevent fraud and protect us
from certain types of tax liability. So we can't divulge what the process
entails.

  Is this all manually done?

Yes.

How many do you do in a day?

It depends on the day, and it depends on the complications involved. For most
verifications, it is an open/closed process that just takes a few minutes. But
for others, it can involve communication back and forth between the seller and
the admin.

How long is said queue? Is it 500 or more or less?

It is currently around 500, which is very high - the highest it's ever been
since we started verifying sellers.

Where are people in said queue?

Right now we are processing requests originally filed on Feb 10, which is 27
days out.

I know I am new here and I know certain things need to be verified, but communication
is key.

Saying "This process may take up to two weeks or even longer, depending on the
number of applications we receive." means nothing is the only thing it means

I do post the number of days out we are currently at every once in a while when
the wait times are longer. But two weeks is normally plenty of time for any seller
to be approved, even with a few back-and-forth emails.

If there is something wrong with an application (which I do not know if that
is the case with mine), let me know please and don't just wait it out.

We will let you know of an issue immediately when your application is addressed.

The real reason why I keep an eye on this so closely in the Forum is because
we do have a situation where not all Help Desk emails get through to us, and
if that is the case, no amount of waiting will solve the problem. We regularly
identify members whose application has fallen through the cracks in this way,
and we find another way to get them verified.

Now this is an explanation that works just perfectly for me.
Thanks for taking the time and answering this in detail, it is very much appreciated.

Thanks for your message and information.
This still leaves a lot of questions unanswered though.
What is the process to verify an account?

Right now we are processing requests originally filed on Feb 10, which is 27
days out.

I know I am new here and I know certain things need to be verified, but communication
is key.

Saying "This process may take up to two weeks or even longer, depending on the
number of applications we receive." means nothing is the only thing it means
is, it gets done when it gets done. This causes frustration in people who signed
up to use your site as this is no clear answer.

Again, I have no insight in BL or anything, but communication is everything.
Tell us where we stand and give time frames you actually keep, don't just
say, it takes as long as it takes.

I will be moving to a new house in the next few months but will be staying within
the same country and province.

Will I need to go through the verification again when I change my address?

We apologize for this error, especially for any established sellers this happened
to because they changed their country location. For those cases, we have decided
to allow a second account for buying internationally. If you are one of those
affected sellers, please contact me directly.

If you stay in the same country, you are fine. But you will need to update your
seller address in the store management section to make a complete change.

Glad to here you are getting things fixed there Russell and thanks for communicating.

Just out of interest and I'm sure you guys are working very hard, but what
is the likely lead time at the moment? I know it says in the T's & C's
two weeks or more, is two weeks a likely time frame with the backlog and issues
or is that unrealistic? I'm not meaning to sound like an annoying pushy user,
I'm just keen to get cracking

There is a probably another place for this question but; what would be really
helpful to me would be if I could see what my store would look like if it was
open so I could play with the layout and things, like some kind of private view.
Is that possible? if not maybe I could add this to the ideas list.

Thank you for all of good work

The main reason is that we have a backlog of requests at the moment - more than
usual - but an additional reason is because some of your requests were being
reset by the Help Desk as they were merged with new reminders from you.

Essentially, some of you were losing your place in line by inquiring as to the
progress of your request. This was in no way intended and we have as of today
changed our internal process so this will not happen in the future.

In addition, we will go through about 500 current requests to find which of you
were disadvantaged in this way, and then we will move you to the front of the
line where you should be.

Hello Russell!

I've sent verification photos on February 12 to customersupport@bricklink.com.
Then I signed up on helpdesk.bricklink.com and had seen my message as ticket
there.
But after few days my attachments became unavailable there for some reason and
I update ticket with attachments on February 23.

my username: cheden
my user ID: 2095804
ticket number: 009-27B954D2-0025

How long should I wait?
Big thanks for your work!

I sent my information through on the 12 of Feb as well and still havent been
verified yet if that helps . Sounds like there is a fair few people that have
applied recently so they have a big list to get through.

Why not setup some automation around the messaging on opening a Store?

Requests in queue for New Seller Verification: 342

Average Time since 1/1/2021: 41 days

Our New Seller Verification Goal is 21 days. Please have patience while
we work through the unexpected backlog
.

If a person saw this type of messaging they could plan accordingly. It would
also tell them Bricklink wants to get them done quicker and recognizes they are
not meeting the target.

We all screw up from time to time. How we handle communications and setting
expectations to avoid frustration in the future go a long way toward keeping
customers happy.

Can you please advise?

All right, then it should happen any day now, since I am at day 29 when we take

I was hoping for the good news over the weekend based on math, but nothing yet.
Maybe tomorrow

Hi Russel,

Is the waiting time still 27 days?
I have been waiting for 26 days now. Then tomorrow should be the big day for
me, right?
I hope so much that I will not be disappointed.

changed our internal process so this will not happen in the future.

It seems my tickets have been merged as well and I just wanted to make sure that
I did not lose the almost three weeks in line based on the tickets being merged.
Can you please advise?

Thanks

This has not affected your request and you are currently 15th in line. We are
now about 27 days out.

Hi Russel,

Is the waiting time still 27 days?
I have been waiting for 26 days now. Then tomorrow should be the big day for
me, right?
I hope so much that I will not be disappointed.

If needed, my ticket no. is 34A-27DA46DB-0031

I think you will also need to put something in your "shipping policy" tab. I've
just had a look and there is nothing showing in there. Might be worth having
something in there ready so you don't get too many hold ups with verification.

There is now. And still can’t open my store but people 6 days after I applied
are getting approved doesn’t make sense.

Hello Russell,
I submitted all my verification information on February 25th and the only communication
I have received back is the standard email saying you received it and gave me
a ticket number. I have emailed and inquired a few times just to make sure you
do in fact receive everything and never get a response back. I understand if
you guys are busy and I'm trying to be patient but it would be nice if there
was a little bit more communication just to know there is in fact someone that
will be getting around to verify the stores.
My ticket number is [279-27CA983E-0001] And when I try and search that now
it tell me it doesn't exist and my store still hasn't been verified.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

to allow a second account for buying internationally. If you are one of those
affected sellers, please contact me directly.

We are beyond 24 days at the moment - more like 28 to 30. But you are in line.

Hi Russel,
I understand you are super busy but I was wondering if you could check if I am
in line or not.
I have submitted verification documents pn 26/02 but never had any confirmation
email that my application has been acknowledged. Could you advise please. Thanks
in advance.

Hope you get somewhere. I applied on 27th Feb. Apparently my first email with
all my documents was never received so I raised a ticket and was told to send
them again. I’ve done that and had no response but the ticket is still live.

I’ve used my time wisely but would very much like to just open and get on with
it now. I know a lot of people have mentioned 30 days waiting. Finding it hard
not to get impatient!

Hello you had already ignored me on this thread.

I have been waiting since 24th February, has my ticket been lost?

Thank you!

I have tried to login to the check on status link in the email for new seller
information and it doesn't recognize my login information from logging in
here. Is there a way that you can verify if I am in the cue? This is the second
number I got after my initial registration it sent me when I sent in a previous
inquiry. Please, let me know if I am in the cue? I just want to make sure that
I am on the list. 33F-27D95306-0001

Thanks,

To whom it may concern:

I am trying to verify that I am in the cue somewhere. I have not gotten any
updates or response. Originally, on March 5 I submitted my original seller verification
request with inventory picture and ID verification. I was sent this request
#[21D-27D511AB-0028], but I originally did not attach a separate address verification.
So, on March 8 I realized this mistake and sent in address verification. When
I did this, it sent me request #[33F-27D95306-0001]. So, I am wondering if these
2 requests were combined or if there is missing information I need to provide
because I was sent 2 request numbers? Can someone at least let me know if I
am in the cue and if you have all information under one request?

Thanks,
Michael

Hi there,
I sent in my required documents for new seller verification on February 11. I
have not received any communication, as to whether I've been approved, I
need to send in anything else, or even if I'm in the queue. People that have
sent in verification over a week later than me have gotten approved, or at least
confirmation that they are in the queue. I'm beginning to feel invisible.
I know you are super busy, but I think all of us still waiting would really appreciate
any sort of communication at this point, even if just to say that you have received
our information, and we should wait another however many weeks before we hear
something else. Thank you.

It’s quite confusing. I was told I was next on the list and that was Friday.
You’re saying that you guys are 28-30 days out well it’s been longer for me.
I’ve been waiting since feb 11 to be told I’m next on the list that was four
days ago... when should I realistically have my verification done? I want to
be able to start selling my legos. A process like this shouldn’t take this long
at all.

Admin, I’m seeing people that have applied a couple weeks after me already approved
while I’m just sitting here day by day waiting. Can you please see where I’m
at in line. You told me I was next up 4 days ago and I’m still waiting. Can you
please give me actual place of where I am at. I want to be able to open my store
it’s not fair people that applied on the 24-25 have already been approved when
I applied on the 11th and haven’t heard anything.

Your store appears to be approved already. You probably just need to go into
your settings and open it.

Just curious - how can you tell? The fact it shows a green box for "seller" does
not mean it is approved. Check the newest sellers-to-be:

I highly doubt all the ones who joined BL this week are already approved. Is
there some other indicator that shows approval?

Nike, I didn’t say everything one but if you go through this tread like I have
you’ll see people who say like for instance a person up there named brick miner
applied 02-26 and is already approved. I applied the 11th and still nothing and
there’s a way to tell. If you look at my name version your name your shows a
green box mine shows a lock with a green box meaning I don’t have verification
yet.

I highly doubt all the ones who joined BL this week are already approved. Is
there some other indicator that shows approval?

Niek.

Nike, I didn’t say everything one but if you go through this tread like I have
you’ll see people who say like for instance a person up there named brick miner
applied 02-26 and is already approved. I applied the 11th and still nothing and
there’s a way to tell. If you look at my name version your name your shows a
green box mine shows a lock with a green box meaning I don’t have verification
yet.

Look at this

And if you see someone who’s verified but store is closed it’s just red aka brick
miner who applied 02-26

No - that red brick means that the store doesn't want to ship to you/me.
Hover over that red brick (or click on it).

Look at this store:
https://www.bricklink.com/feedback.asp?u=braun
The lock merely means the store is closed, it does NOT indicate WHY
the store is closed (whether it is because seller is not verified yet, or seller
is maybe on holidays etc). User "braun" is the oldest seller I could find - you
don't suggest he is still waiting for approval, right?

It's "Niek" - but that mistake is common, as I had to do a legal battle with
the sneaker company, and I had them change their name as I had claimed it first.

I was not replying to your predicament, I was asking Brett how he could see from
where he is whether a store is approved or not (I think you can't).

The "lock" is the exact same indication for a store that temporarily closes,
or for a store that has been approved but hasn't opened yet, or (I believe)
for a store that has not been approved yet.

There is an internal flag called a Trust Level that we change manually in order
to allow a store to open up. This status is not shown anywhere in the public
view.

Hi! I'm leaving my ticket number too. I written second message in ticket
so it could change my position on stuck ;/

My initial request is dated 27 February 7.32pm (GMT) - email sent as per the
guidelines. I then raised a ticket on 12th March as I'd heard nothing. 309-27DF25BE-002D
This has not been responded to since the 15th March.
The fact that we have to press a 'button' to initiate seller upgrade
would suggest that a date stamp is created somewhere within the account. So to
be told my request was received on 12th March is infuriating as I, like the other
missed tickets, am now being penalised. I may not have been in that first batch
of people that were effected but if I hadn't of raised a ticket to chase,
goodness knows when, if ever, you would of responded.
So as I have proof of my email with date and time stamp, I am officially on day
35 not 22 as you seem to think.

How many days out are your currently working to?

missed tickets, am now being penalised.

My initial request was on February 11 and I got approved on April 4. No correspondence.
If you sent yours in on February 27, and there's some consistency in how
long it's taking for everyone (which there doesn't seem to be) you'd
be looking at around April 14.

Can you please check my application ? I sent documentation on the 15th Feb 21.
I've heard nothing back so I just want to ensure you have the details in
order to process? I raised a ticket 18 March and that's been blank so far
Thanks for contacting BrickLink! Your ticket has been received and has been assigned
ticket number [3CE-27E630B3-0011]. I queried again on 26th March and reply 'ticket
has been received and has been assigned ticket number [1BB-27F0EA48-004D]'.

Can you please check mine ? I see stores that applied after me are already up
and running. Rgds

Hi,

I know that the have been some issues causing delay in verifying people to open
shops, but hoping that you can help me out with something. We sent our verification
docs over 3 weeks ago, and we now seem to have 2 green dots showing that we are
buyers and verified sellers, but we are still not able to open our shop. Any
idea why?

Thanks
